For the love of God, Unmute
there's more than electricity coursing through battery city. it is littered with innocent souls, trapped in the city's electricity. souls that cannot find their way home.

Something that get pushed in a lot of DID/OSDD spaces is constantly telling everyone when you switch, tagging every post with the alter who wrote it, on discord always using pluralkit or one of the other similar bots so every message says what alter sent it.
And I just feel like. Some people maybe could benefit from the reminder that No One is entitled to know every time you switch. No One is entitled to know exactly what alter wrote what. It’s perfectly fine if you want to do these things. If that makes your online experience better and more comfortable for you, then do that. But if you’re doing it because “everyone else does it”, you feel pressured to, you’re afraid of being judged if you don’t? Then don’t do it. It’s okay. No one is entitled to any of your alters names, let alone knowing when you switch, ect.
Hell, a lot of people don’t even realize right away when they’ve switched, or they know they’ve switched but don’t know who they are, or they’re multiple alters blurring together, or just multiple alters being co-con. We don’t always know who wrote what. Sometimes we don’t know who we are. Sometimes several of us contributed to a post or even a single message on discord. These are more common experiences than is necessarily shown in the community. They can even be a big part of the disorder.
Also even if you do want to sign messages or posts even for just your own purposes, don’t feel like you have to use the name you actually go by in your system. You can go by a single letter, an emoji, and entirely different name, ect. People use pseudonyms online all the time. Even if it wouldn’t lead back to your legal identity, it’s okay to not want to share your name.
Also. This 100% includes people asking you how many alters you have. That’s deeply personal information, not to mention it’s pretty rare to have 100% certainty about how many alters you have.
I am fully aware I do not have an accurate head count. And that’s Okay! I don’t need to know. You can totally give an estimate if you wish to, but you should not at all feel pressured to. The most information people get about our numbers is that we’re polyfragmented. That’s all you get to know, and if you push for more, I’m going to enforce my boundaries however I feel necessary.
