my friend told me of this really tear inducing headcanon that i just had to share.

what if shiro actually was dead?

what if he was dead, but came back to the paladins in another way?

maybe like king alfor, he comes to the team through a hologram. maybe if the pods automatically store memories, and shiro was in one of them, everything would be the same. but no. with this, comes pain. the pain of knowing a loved one is gone, but constantly being reminded by their image. their fake presence. the team is devastated, but especially keith. this man, an idol to keith, someone he looked up to, was gone. this platonic love and care for shiro is just a little shattered by knowing he’s gone, for real. a hologram doesn’t help with his feelings, the emotions he’s experiencing. he can’t even look “shiro” in the eye because he can’t be reminded of his suffering.
