Taehyung pov
I walk though the park camera in hand hoping to get some good pictures of the local flora and fauna, and maybe some cute pictures of Yeontan. The yellowing trees around me set the perfect setting for a cute photo shoot for my baby. I walk until I find my favorite place in the park. Ever since I was little this park was a place I wanted to visit. I had heard about its beautiful hills and the lake that sat between the small man-made forest, it was truly a beautiful place for pictures or just a good place to get a breath of fresh air. I had been coming here recently and I took a liking to the scenery and decided on a favorite spot. The ground was covered in brown and orange leaves Yeontan pulled against his leash and barked at a pile of leaves a bit of ways away.
I pulled his leash off and gave him a stern look witch he seemed to understand as ‘don’t get lost’ and I let him run free. Still I followed the small puppy to make sure that he stayed out of trouble. Luckily I did. As I watched him frolic through the small piles of fallen gold, I noticed in the distance a girl wearing a brown dress with a white shirt under. Her hair was loose around her face save for a few strands that were pulled back with a pearl clip. She was taking a couple of different selfies from varying angles. I watched her look over the pictures and frown in distaste.
Without really thinking, I raised my camera up and started to snap a couple of pictures myself. Her candid were a lot better than her posed ones. She seemed awkward before a camera and she looked like she was struggling to find her angle. I messed with the setting of my digital camera and took a few more before deciding that maybe, the film camera I had would be a better fit to her aesthetic. It was a mistake and I knew it as soon as the loud click rang through the quiet park and the light flashed across.
The girl looked up and noticed me. Fear flashed across her face and I saw her tuck her phone aside before standing and taking a few steps back. Her features changed quickly as she glanced around and noticed Yeontan rolling in a pile of leaves. She looked frozen. Like a deer in head lights. Was she scared of dogs?
“Yeontan,” I yelled trying to get him away from the small girl but for once, my dog ignored me and charged at the unsuspecting girl. Her eyes widened and I feared that she would run but she dropped to her knees and held out a hand for my dog to sniff. I ran over just in case but I didn’t need to. Yeontan seemed to love her and the girl was petting my puppy happily.
“I’m sorry,” I said in my accented English, suddenly nervous that she wouldn’t understand, “dog…my dog.”
“Your dog,” the girl asked in similarly accented English. Was it maybe Spanish? Italian? I couldn’t be sure. She was quite pale and had dark, curled hair and brown eyes. It was hard to place her nationality.
“Yes. Is he scare you,” I asked feeling my cheeks heat.
“I love dogs,” she said, petting his ears. Yeontan was panting happily under her ministrations.
I smiled. If Yeontan liked her then she must be alright. Of course she was pretty…
“I don’t want scare you,” I said holding up my camera, “I take picture of you.”
Her eyes widened again as she stood from the ground where she pet my dog, “Can I see?”
I held out the camera to her and she scrolled past the many pictures I took. She smiled at one of my favorites, where she was looking at the falling leaves and the sun had hit her just right. She looked stunning. The way that the rays made her brown eyes lighten to honey and her dark hair highlighted her face. It was beautiful.
“Can I have this,” she asked pointing at the picture, “I want to post it on my Instagram.”
“Sure,” I said transferring the pictures to my iPhone and then turning on my air drop, “What is your name on phone?”
She told me her name and I found it instantly. She had a really pretty name. I tapped the icon and sent her all the pictures.
“Thank you,” she said in Korean and I had to take a step back. Had she recognized me?
“You speak Korean,” I asked in shock and she giggled.
“Not really but my cousin taught me how to say thank you,” she said with a confident shrug.
“I teach you more if you want,” I said then held out my hand awkwardly, “My name is Taehyung.”
