In The Stormlight Archive the primary world religion, Vorinism, believes symmetry is divine. Women in this world are expected to arbitrarily cover their left hand as a modesty rule. This means that in a world where symmetry is viewed as divine, women, and only women, have a body that is by default viewed as asymmetrical

scadrian religious privilege is unreal. the way BOTH dominant religions go on and on about being persecuted and then exacerbate the whole thing by mistreating each other… meanwhile, “why is your heaven violent,” “I don’t want to spend my afterlife retaking the tranquiline halls,” girl you’re spending your *life* fighting over whether some half-dead blonde cremling counts as a deity or not. Oh, you think surviving death is itself a mark of divinity?? May I introduce you to some storming FUSED???

And on top of it all their gods are alive! They can talk to their gods! Do you have any idea how lucky you are? How many lives have been saved and how much technology you had because your Shards didn’t dip out to live in the hearts of men? And don’t even get me STARTED on their gender roles— women as deadly warriors with their hands on full display— it’s just unbelievable. Here I’d been thinking the Passions was the worst religion I’d ever see. Storming lot of scar worshippers.
