Bottom line:

Yes MAGA will cheat.

Yes, they will try to rig it.

If they lose anyway they will try to overturn it by force.

Vote anyway. Vote all the more.

Make them work for it. Make their fraud obvious. And then take to the streets to demand that the will of the people be honoured.

Staying home is just doing their job for them.

City of Charlotte 2019 Election Results

Ballots cast: 122,121 out of 723,478 16.88% turnout

These were the numbers that dictated the results of our elections yesterday. Here in Charlotte we voted for Mayor, City Council, School Board, and whether or not to pass a sales tax for an increase on arts and parks spending. People will complain about the fact that all Democrats got voted in again and the people in this city don't see how harmful their policies are. Yes, 1/7 people did vote them in, but everyone else made their statement by not voting for something different or really confirming that they approve of the job they are doing.

People will cheer at the fact that the sales tax got voted down because finally people are learning that giving more money to the government won't do anything. But a majority didn't even give their opinion so there is no evidence of learning, just evidence of a lot of people not caring to show up, other than enough of the opposition to vote no.

This is my biggest pet peeve in politics. Are there major issues at the Federal level? Absolutely, but I don't need the media focused on every breath certain people take. Are their issues in the state government? Absolutely. Hell, mine's a complete circus who aren't even practicing democracy. But they weren't being judged today.

Today, the people who are going to impact my life the most, by approving/denying upcoming developments and rezoning applications, approving/denying infrastructure or city improvements, and simply by being the voice of the City of I live in, were on a ballot today. And 600,000 plus people didn't care.

Your right to vote is a just that, a right. USE IT!!!! Not just every 4 years. Not just when its convenient, vote every year its available. Half the time it takes just five minutes. Plus you can get ballots in the mail! And if you don't have that time, then work to make voting day a national holiday like a lot of the rest of the world. Because like yesterday, the things that will impact you most directly in your life, were decided by 16% of the population. And you no longer get to complain about whether they were right or wrong. You made your own decision by choosing to be silent. Choosing to be complicit in whatever decision was made for you. This is the true failure of politics these days. We all make complaints or posts on social media but when the time comes, we don't take the simplest action.

Friendly reminder that state and local elections are just as important as national elections. I know this is the night before the election but state Judges and local politicians have a massive amount of influence the community and surroundings.
