Senate Republicans voted Wednesday to block a bill put forward by Democrats that would guarantee access to contraception nationwide, as Demo

"The bill – the Right to Contraception Act – would enshrine into federal law a right for individuals to buy and use contraceptives, as well as for health care providers to provide them. It would apply to birth control pills, the plan B pill, condoms and other forms of contraception."

One GOP member said:

“This is a show vote. It’s not serious,” GOP Sen. John Cornyn of Texas said. “Plus, it’s a huge overreach. It doesn’t make any exceptions for conscience. … It’s a phony vote because contraception, to my knowledge, is not illegal. It’s not unavailable.”

So...you blocked the bill because it's unnecessary, ...and you also blocked it because it doesn't include a carve-out that will let you make contraception unavailable.

That is definitely not at all what someone would do and/or say if their party was planning to restrict access to contraception if they take power in 2025!

(PS: Per that same link, they also want to repeal the prescription drug pricing agreements that Biden negotiated, including the one that caps insulin at $35.)

DO NOT TAKE THE CANADIAN ELECTION FOR GRANTED.

Yes, polling generally shows the Liberals in the lead. This is is good news. However, do not assume that the Liberals have it in the bag.

Polls have narrowed, with some polling showing the Liberal lead as little as 3%.

Many voters make their decision on Election Day.

GenZ is often under-polled, and shifting Right.

And that big turnout at advance polls, starting on the 18th? Some polling actually shows the Conservatives briefly taking the lead on the 18th, the day after the debates. Polling also shows voters' focus shifting from Canadian sovereignty to other issues- the need for a unified response to the US threat being the main impetus behind the Liberals' rise in the polls.

Most of the Liberals' decline in the polls, I will note, is NOT actually voters going back to the Conservatives- its voters going back to other parties. Likely, in part, because many of them think that the Liberals are going to win regardless, so they don't need to worry about voting strategically.

It is ABSOLUTELY still possible that Poilievre could be the next Prime Minister. And just in case anyone has forgotten, or didn't know, here's just some of what he has promised to do:

-Defund the CBC, Canada's public news broadcaster.

-Defund universities, just like Tr*mp.

-Massive cuts to government services... just like Tr*mp.

-Still run up a deficit, because of all the tax cuts that will benefit the rich (who can afford to do without government services).

-Allow police to arrest people for being homeless.

-Become the first Prime Minister in Canadian history to invoke the Notwithstanding Clause to override the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

And here's some of what he HAS done already:

-Refused to decline an endorsement from Elon Musk, saying Musk should come and build factories in Canada.

-Suggested that US threats to Canadian sovereignty should not be a Federal election issue, because there's nothing we can do about them.

-Marched with anti-vaccine "convoyers" who shut down the country for weeks.

And here are some of the people who have endorsed him:

-Elon Musk. This piece of shit, I trust, needs no introduction.

-Alex Jones- the MAGA conspiracy theorist with the billion dollar judgement against him for defamation for claiming the parents of school shooting victims engineered a hoax.

-Tucker Carlson- the MAGA pundit Prime Minister Trudeau testified under oath is a paid agent of the Russian government, and who has publicly called for a US military invasion of Canada.

THIS MAN COULD BE THE NEXT PRIME MINISTER.

Do not assume that it is safe to sit it out, or vote for a different party, because the Liberals are going to win. It is entirely possible that on the morning of the 29th, Canadians could wake up to the same hell the US has been in since November 5th.

I am following like a hawk and am more worried by the day. Mostly because everyone I talk to has NO IDEA that the Conservatives are about to win because of the NDP and Bloc surge.

Conservative voters who have proudly waved flags and stuck banners on their cars with the words "FU Trudeau" all over them for YEARS, and who have now turned all their energy and attentions to making respective signs with FU Carney on them; and, who now, are showing up to events that Mark Carney is speaking -and hollering that he is apart of WEF (lol) and that he's had ties with Epstein (which has been proven to be false! As images were AI generated -some even by Grok, that were being spread like wildfire on the internet just a short month ago).

Among many other things like bringing crayons in and marking up their ballots and making little spots to vote for Trump... they have exercised their rights to freedom of speech, despite knees deep in conservative propaganda and conspiracy theories (all while saying the Liberal government is repressing and censuring our rights and freedoms -all of which is a blatant lie).

But the moment a Liberal/NDP/Green/Independent voter throws any small amount of energy back (like a brief middle finger) we are evil incarnate. We have regressed as human beings We are classless. We are rude and inconsiderate. We are aggressive...
