So according to The World of Thedas v2, a clutch of griffon eggs* was found and hatched in 9:41 Dragon (apparently it had been hidden and protected with magic by the same person responsible for the griffon extinction in the first place). (*The book says eggs, the wiki says hatchlings.)

9:41 Dragon, the year of the Inquisition.

Given that the Inquisition epilogue strongly hints that we’ll be seeing more of the Grey Wardens/there are Things happening at Weisshaupt, and that the finding of those griffons/eggs is supposedly based off the Norwegian Lundehund (so says the wiki; there were six dogs that were carefully bred back to thousands)...

I’m predicting griffons in DA4.
