behold, DRIP! (plus superior purple design that I imagine them in)
This is pretty old, so I just colored it to actually push it out.
Down below is actually more of what they’re like, and their feelings on some of the characters! There’s spoilers for the game, so beware if you don’t want that!
General:
Alright, so it’s known that DRIP got a shitty upload, but just how shit was it exactly?
Well, VR has it’s limitations, and while there is technology that can help you feel like you’re in the game, most players experience only two senses: Sight, and Sound. Likewise, DRIP can only experience the world through these things, and thus lacks taste, sense, and smell. Though emotional pain still remains, they cannot feel pain physically, which is why, not pictured in the above photos, they’d actually have lost 3 fingers to a larval YesFriend, and would’ve lost more if bush hadn’t yelled at them to stop. Of course, because of the botched upload, they have no memory of pretty much everything before they were uploaded (human intelligence was a guess), and, until forcibly muted by Gavin, lacked the ability of speech due to their broken voice box.
Despite their permanently closed eye, it functions as a normal eye would, but they can only emote through their open eye (other than the frantic hand motions they do).
Relationships:
Cookie: She’s the one, and possibly the only one, they’d considered a full friend. Despite her talkative nature leading to giving them a few issues during single’s night, she was kind to them, and guided them through what little time they got to experience Scottsdale before it all went to hell. Even if it was what she was made for, they were grateful for it.
Gavin: Contrastingly, Gavin is the one DRIP would say they downright hate. From the start, they were kidnapped, made mute, and were compelled to drive around a psuedo-corpse. Without anyway to protest, they put up with all of his grievances, his assholery, and generally single-Marty-mindedness. With the gained Knowledge from Butter’s memory, they became more assured in their distaste for him, and was fully for the coup. What happened after caused them to fear him a bit--and it was not settled by his apology. At the very least, they aren’t stuck with him anymore. Also, why didn’t they get a room?!
Butters: They’re grateful towards him for saving them all. They also feel some pity towards him once they saw how he survived Activitude’s fall; empathetic to the feeling of being lost and confused. They wonder if they could’ve known about their own past, had they tried the CPGoo themselves...They’d consider him to be a friend, if they had to choose a member of the merge.
Hernandez:...They find him a bit annoying, but fine otherwise. Being unable taste, they don’t understand his penchant for food. Him being a victim to what happened at Activitude does make them feel a bit sorry for him, but as he’s happier where he’s at, they don’t make it known. Drip also doesn’t get his obsession with working out.
Bush:They’re also neutral towards her, but they have a slight distaste to her for siding with the board. However, they do find it admirable how she took care of the YesFriends, and still cared for them when they corrupted. The snide remark about their muteness stung, though.
Madame: They respect her. Her dedication to her people to the very end, despite the falling of the world, and was fully supportive of the attempt to overthrow Gavin. However, it is distant respect: being in her presence is more in line to a celebrity than a friend.
Marty:There isn’t much to say about them. It was nice to get a greeting, but with Gavin’s insistence to find them, DRIP found it a bit annoying. And, from Marty murdering Bush, to their little drama with Gavin as DRIP avoided dying, they wouldn’t say they like them.
Other Things:
DRIP cannot dream. I found a video where a person watched two characters talk about stuff. One of them mentions being unable to Dream, I believe because they didn’t pay for it. Since DRIP is assumed to have gotten the worst of the worst, I apply this to them too.
DRIP can become defensive, sensitive and irritable when highly stressed, and with Scottsdale collapsing and all of the merge members having issues with each other at some point...well, ignoring them and piloting the Chaz mech became comforting to them. (It’s probably why they’d be hard pressed to consider any of the mergers friends)
When I say their upload was botched, I mean it was botched. They have literally no memory of anything before the upload; I stand with the idea of Cookie needing to teach them how to walk. Though they do desire to have all things denied to them, they do not miss them, because they do not remember the time in which they had those senses. On that note...
The Ending:
The ending is not nice to DRIP. Not only was their choice made for them, but they had to experience all they lacked all at once. A person who’s had such senses all of their life can get overwhelmed by them; what would it do to a person who’s experiencing them for the first time? Assuming the other three could take control, DRIP would never want to be out to experience sensory hell again.
Butters, Hernandez, and Madame would learn how to live as a human together, and despite their concern for DRIP, would find themselves in a comfortable routine.
