SHADOW WORLD’S FAIR -- WILSHIRE EVENT #007

back when the los angeles institute was still new, it’s founders made an effort to bridge the gap between shadowhunters and downworlders - or that’s what they claimed to be doing. in truth, the picnic was simply a way for them to gain an idea on the number of downworlders in the area. while their intentions were less than pure, the event itself stuck and became an annual gathering.

every year on march 11th the shadow world comes together. a handful of powerful warlocks spend days ahead of time preparing and working a spell to cover a park to allow vampires to venture out through a portal between the park and hotel dumort for two hours of daylight before sunset. fae work up glamour magic to deter mundanes that would usually venture into the park. shadowhunters clean and decorate. booths are set up, blankets spread out, games and live shows arranged. from start to finish there is always fun to be had - and after the last few months they’ve all had, a little fun is just what they all need.

please hold all non-event threads until the event is over!! this way we can keep things clean and flowing smoothly <3

this event will run from friday, march 9th at 1pm est ( 6pm gmt ) until monday, march 12th at 1pm est ( 6pm gmt ).

in game the event takes place on sunday, march 11th. it starts at 5pm pst and carries on through the night.

think of it like a faire or parade or whatnot - lots of booths selling food or trinkets, face painting, games - the whole nine yards.

anyone and everyone that is tied to the shadow world in some way is welcome.

the park is surrounded by magic which allows vampires - even those that are not daywalkers - to come out during the day, as well as wards to keep unsuspecting mundanes out.

lo and behold, bruna diaz was content, or even happy, and it wasn’t because someone fell over or hurt themselves -- strange, right? many people believed that it wasn’t possible for the other to be so positive, or excited, in general. and, yet... here she was; stuffing her face with pink cotton candy and walking around with the dopiest smile on her face, still, however, hoping that no one who she doesn’t want to see will approach her and ruin her fun.

“elena, are you certain about this?” apprehension creased the plane of quill’s brow and pursed his lips tightly even as he allowed his date to continue dragging him off towards the activity she’d just pointed out to him. “i’ve never heard of a petting zoo before, but the name alone sounds greatly offensive towards were - creatures and potentially even vampires.”

     lost in thought, the werewolf was toying with the single flower she held in her hands, fingers picking at it out of habit, she would fidget her fingers or whatever she had in hand whenever she was nervous. so distracted that she didn’t even hear -- or feel -- the shadowhunter walking closer to the bench she was seated on, chocolate brown hues were focused on the ground, everything around her long forgotten.

      joel is used to being the one away on business but this time it's cordelia. suffice to say, he doesn't really know what to do with himself except, well... work. barely half an hour into his patrolling of the area, he cuts inside and works his way towards the coffee. “i was never sure of the saying everything's the same but everything has changed until now,” he muses to the person beside him. “strange that...”

Alistair had finally done it, after a very long time the shadow hunter was finally not dressed in all black. He had decided to add some colour to the outfit he wore as he walked up the gravel path alongside Kit. He had finally done it, made up his mind and somehow asked Kit out-it may have included leaving a note on kit’s bed- “I don’t know about this” he commented unhappily, glaring eyes scanning over the vast area occupied by stalls and pretty much every downworlder “the last time we allowed free entry on events, bad things happened. None of these gatherings go well” He had his steele and sword with him but hidden in a way they were not obvious. his frown lightens up and he shoots kit an apologetic smile “I have a feeling I’m going to be apologizing to you alot--this is supposed to be a fun date.” Yet he couldn’t shake off the feeling that something would or could go wrong.  @ofjoestars

        “for the last time - no, you cannot have one of my scales. yes, i am aware they grow back. no, i don’t care what you need it for. now if you’ll excuse me.” she spun on her heel before they could get another word out, picking a familiar face in the crowd and making her way over to them to ensure the conversation was dropped. “i honestly hate this little fair. remind me why i visit each year?”
