That one scene from Like Father Like Son, but I don’t really remember the chapter. @eternalglitch
Oh boy oh boy, it has now been several years since I came up with this idea, and now it gets a little bit of a reset.
The Uncommon Swaps AU
Don A. Tello:
I’d say Donnie initially started my interest, since he got put with villains a lot, but I realized Donnie hardly gets left with Splinter in separated AUs (very similar thought process to how Tiz’s AU started), so he was the first boy I placed when I was just humoring the idea. Here is some information about his life in this AU:
-He was raised as an only, and a very lonely, child. His dad was around, but if Donatello didn’t need him, he would be watching tv. That was okay though since he was really good at keeping himself entertained. Especially after he discovered science and math and technology! The whole world opened up. Many of his projects as a kid were more failure than success, with plenty blowing up. His dad was always there to help patch him up with Lou Jitsu bandages.
- Splinter and Donatello are very much opposites. One likes to sleep in, the other hardly remembers to sleep at all. One likes to watch tv, the other likes to make highly advanced robotics. One believes they are a super ninja, and the other prefers to keep their exercise to a minimum. They do have one thing in common: a big tendency to keep big secrets from each other due to a difficult time opening up about- ugh- feelings. They don’t really get along, but despite that, they are family. So they are always there for each other when they need it.
- They are so different, in fact, Donatello wondered how they were even related, and used a thrown out 23 and me kit to confirm their relationship to each other, in which he discovered an origin of Japanese, human DNA, shared between the rat and the turtle, a hypothesis of both of them having once been human, and a deep wondering about a missing mother. Of course he never told his father. He wouldn’t have told him anything anyway.
- Donatello met April on a particularly confident day, as he decided to ditch his dad to explore the human world by himself at merely 9 years old. He wanted more garbage from the scrapyard. Little Donatello realized he was way over his head when he got lost and couldn’t find his way home. That’s when little miss April showed up to meet her weird new friend, and they’ve been inseparable ever since.
- April inspired Donatello’s intense desire to attend school, which resulted in a 3 year pursuit to do what no mutant turtle had attempted before and become “human.” Which he managed to come by with some finagling, holographic technology, and careful preparation. He dubbed this device RHEID. When he was 12, he joined April as a 14 year old freshman at her high school, and forged all necessary documentation for being legal and alive.
-Donatello invented SHELLDON when he was 11, to help his dad. This was also in preparation for his disappearance to school. SHELLDON got a sudden laid back attitude when Splinter spilled some coffee over his hard drive while watching a surfing competition (he couldn’t find the remote). He also developed a sentient AI from this. He doesn’t see Donatello often but deeply desires a more meaningful relationship with him.
-Donatello has a backpack, kind of like his battle shell, made of titanium. He has a hovercraft feature to fly, robotic arms to help him build, and cup holders for his coffee thermal.
- Donatello is the captain of the Purple Dragons. After dethroning Kendra through a coop, she transferred schools in her rage to compete against Donatello in all future state robotic competitions. They see each other as rivals. Since then, the purple dragons have recruited one new member named Jane.
- Donatello’s experiments have in fact caused catastrophic events at the school more than once, leading for a couple interesting adventures in his otherwise normal life. Luckily he has not been suspended or expelled (yet). He has been banned from the auditorium due to a falling out with the theater teacher. They are no longer on good terms.
- Donatello sells some of his technology on the dark web and has massive bank. Money is not a problem for him, but he’s frugal regardless.
- Donatello and April share two classes, advanced ASL, and gym. Neither of them are very popular in school, but both are well known. The rest of Donnie’s schedule are AP classes and botany.
- Nicknames include: Purple (his father's nickname, cause he can see their ninpo colors), De (given by April when they first met), De-zaster (given by the school to make fun of him), Don (technically his legal name but not his given one), Asshole (comedically he uses Ash Hull as an alternate name), Mr. Tello (really only for formal scholarly circumstances), Othello Von Ryan (gamer tag and undercover name)
- Donatello does not have very much martial arts training, limited to instinct and some Lou Jitsu movies. His primary means of attack would be to flee, fly, or run away. His father did once gift him a bo staff, but it sits in his closet. He later utilizes the mystic staff from Draxums lair, which unlocks his innate mystic powers.
- Donatello was the second out of his brothers to unlock his ninpo.
Spike:
Raph’s swap place was another that was kind of obvious. I feel I usually see him either with splinter or in the foot clan, and rarely see him stand alone with Draxum. And exploring this relationship has been very interesting. Here’s what Raphael’s childhood looked like with Draxum:
- The baby snapping turtle was rescued by Huginn in the ruckus of the explosion and given back to Draxum, who hadn’t expected his life work to be interrupted and resulting in him only having one mutant baby. This wasn’t a deterrent however, he would just build his life work up again, while raising his greatest warrior into his greatest warrior. Not much for sentimental attachment, Huginn and Munnin ended up naming the baby something cool, and he was christened The Honorable Spike Draxum.
- Huginn and Munnin were primarily responsible for Spike as a baby, until he could walk and run and speak properly, then Draxum took over his care and training.
-Spike and Draxum use a Boss and Youngling honorific over Father and Son. Spike does not actually know the word father or dad. He calls Huginn and Munnin his Uncles per their request.
- Draxum was really strict about his regimen and his expectations with Spike, which put a lot of pressure on him from a very young age, and increased his innate anxiety tenfold. He was trained to value the lives of true yokai more than his own (a decision Draxum will come to regret later), to be a protector of the people of the Hidden City, and told he was made to be the leader of a great army and the strongest of the strong. Spike has only ever striven to make Draxum proud of him. Draxum only ever looks for improvement, and so he forgets to comment on Spike’s progress, leading to a tentative belief in Spike that he is not enough.
-Draxum tried to teach Spike mystic arts young, but Spike couldn’t quite get a grasp on it. Draxum believed him incapable or even unable to use the mystic arts, and this created a physical and emotional block on his ninpo, as he felt he had let his Boss down.
-Despite the boss’s genius, Spike is kind of an idiot. He gets frustrated very easily and it usually results in an explosion of anger.
-Draxum and Spike made frequent visits into the Hidden City markets together, and would often come home from the market with more than they needed. Draxum, while out of touch with his deeper adoration for Spike, often falls the most victim to his emotional attachment when Spike gives his puppy dog eyes while asking for something in the market. Because of this, Spike is a tad bit spoiled, especially when it comes to stuffed animals.
-Both have a tendency to refer to themselves in the third person. Both have a difficult time discussing emotions; Spike in a misunderstanding of his many big emotions and difficulty navigating them, while Draxum tries to suppress emotions he does not like, or does not want interfering, leading to emotional constipation. They often have their best conversations when dueling/training, as opposed to meals together, which can be awkward and tense. Spike is the most confident when sparring.
-Draxum stopped using Youngling when Spike became a teenager, as he found it inaccurate. He now just calls him by his name.
-Spike does not like humans, however, he is much more tolerable to them than Draxum, and has been given a cloaking brooch for occasional topside missions. Draxum has him do lots of errands, especially as he’s gotten older.
-Spike began doing vigilantism around the Hidden City on accident, during a mission for Draxum, cause he couldn’t stop himself from helping/interfering- depending on how you see it. This has, however, garnered his reputation as a criminal by the Hidden City police. So far, no one has recognized him, but his bounty keeps going up. He enjoys doing it more than he’d care to admit, as he keeps going back to it, but he keeps it a secret from Draxum cause he’s afraid of what he’ll think. Hugnin and Munnin are in on it though, and keep the secret from Draxum as well.
-Like canon, Spike has a difficult time being alone, and can go feral, hence why he often has Huginn or Muninn to watch him.
-Draxum never created the sister turtles, as he didn’t need to recreate the experiment now that he has Spike.
-Nicknames include: Little Guy (given and used frequently despite his size by Hugnin and Munnin), Youngling (retired), Big Red (commonly how he’s referred on wanted posters), Spraphael (undercover name), SP (nickname from April), The Honorable Spike (by anybody who respects Draxum's station as a Baron, a formal title)
- Spike has been thoroughly trained in martial arts, with his strengths being his strength. His fighting style is a lot of pounding and punching and he prefers to face things head on. He uses retractable spiked gauntlets when he wants to do real damage, he was not given the mystic tonfas, as Draxum thought they would be useless to him, since they are meant to draw out the users mystic energy.
- Spike will be the last of his brothers to fully unlock his ninpo.
Prince:
I just put him where I like best. I feel like Leo gets moved around the most. The fandom loves putting him through the horrors. I blame Like Father Like Son for setting the precedent, but I’m not mad.
-The baby red eared slider was taken by Splinter at first, but after an accidental run and drop in with Gus right outside Draxum’s lab, they were split up. Fortunately, Gus didn’t recognize Splints as Lou Jitsu due to the recent mutation making him a rat. Unfortunately, the red eared slider was taken by Gus in their quick exchange.
-Gus returned to Big Mama with the tiny turtle, saying he found this at Draxum’s lab. Big Mama was only interested in keeping it as some kind of leverage against Draxum, should she need it. For a time, she kept the baby turtle in a tank in her office. She was his primary caretaker during this time. When it grew to be much larger than its species expectations, and had human childlike tendencies, she removed him and sent him to train with Gus and her other bodyguards.
-Big Mama only really noticed the baby red eared slider when he was 4 years old and managed to sneak and talk his way up to Big Mamas office, surprising her by sitting in her chair. He pitched her a deal, that if she spent more time with him, he would become super strong and be her next battle nexus champion! See it as an investment, with otherwise nothing to loose.
-Big Mama found herself quite enjoying spending time investing in the baby sliders growth, and eventually gave him a proper name, calling him Prince to the public. He made his promotional debut in ad campaigns shortly after, and became a very lovable face in the hidden city.
-Draxum eventually came sniffing around after seeing Prince’s debut, which is when Big Mama learned of her little prince’s true origins as the offspring of her Lou Jitsu. Her possession of her treasure became a source of pride. Draxum was unable to get Prince, as Big Mama claimed it payment for stealing her beloved champion.
-Prince continued to train with Gus and Big Mama’s hired personal trainers. Success in training would result in time with Mama, which was spent in more mental fortitude training, such as chess and creating twisted deals.
-Big Mama began to use Prince in business exchanges when she realized his baby eyes and unexpected smooth taking got a lot more people to make deals.
-Prince picked up lots of habits from Big Mama, like he has a slight accent he sometimes pushes to sound more sophisticated, and often makes up words in replace of verbs and adjectives.
-Prince was finally allowed to compete in the Battle Nexus after he passed the Maze of Death in Hueso’s pizza place, when he was about 13. His first season was a huge success and gained him even more fame.
-Big Mama and Prince’s relationship is largely transactional. Big Mama has grown increasingly possessive of her treasure and keeps a close eye on him, usually filling up his schedule so she knows where he is at all times, or otherwise confining him to the hotel. Thus, Prince's circle of friends is confined to mostly Mama.
-Big Mama likes to brand her champion, so you can find spiders in most of his clothing designs provided by Big Mama
-Nicknames include: Little Red (the name the bodyguards would call him by), Leo (when Big Mama is serious), Prince of the Hidden City (as an official extension), Little Prince, My Champion, My darling, My Prince, My turtlyboo, My Treasure, My Pet, My shumfmuffin, My- (Big Mama's plethora of affectionate nicknames), Prick (that ones actually an insult)
-Prince has been thoroughly trained in martial arts and strategic planning. His fighting style is considered dangerous as it is well calculated and unpredictable. Usually fights to kill, but knows when not too. His weapon style slightly varies for different situations, but his brand is duel wielding katanas.
-Prince was the third out of his brothers to unlock his ninpo.
(I draw him the most)
Turtle “Tillie” Jones:
I put Mikey in the foot clan, cause it was what was leftover, but his story has now become one of my favs. The most mystically inept Hamato right in the center of the Foot clan devote to destroying them? There is so much to play with.
-The box turtle was originally saved from the explosion by Munnin, however, an accidental slip up made him drop the poor baby down a drain, and he was lost. This drain drained upward toward the upper city, bringing him up to the surface. There he was plopped out into the middle of the street and found by a wandering 4 year old girl.
-Cassandra took the little turtle in, without her dad realizing, and kept it in her closet of a room. She called him Turtle, cause she's not that good at naming things. It hardly mattered to her when the turtle started becoming more of a baby, she didn't know turtles weren't supposed to do that.
-Cassandra and Turtle both raised each other independently. Cassandra's father provided bare minimums by scattering various junk food and leftovers around the house, which the two snuck around the apartment to eat, careful not to bother dad while he drank. Their life was mostly confined to four walls, but sometimes Cassandra got to go outside.
-When Cassandra was 7, and Turtle was 3, Dad discovered Turtle, and got really, really mad and hit Cassandra really hard. Turtle got really, really mad too and released an explosion of fire to push dad back, causing the apartment to catch fire and accidentally killing dad. Cassandra and Turtle stayed safe huddled together in the middle.
-Both got taken to an orphanage, and then nearly immediately adopted by some strange men who cleared out the whole place like adopting puppies. The Foot Clan was nice, and they ate lots of good food, and got new clothes! They just had to follow the rules and adhere to the schedule, which was fairly loose all things considered. Plus Foot Lieutenant and Foot Brute spent lots of time with them.
-Turtle was a prodigy within the foot clan, catching on quickly, whenever he took things seriously. Cassandra wasn't far behind him. Cassandra tended to take things much more seriously than turtle.
-Both Turtle and Cassandra keep their heads buzzed, as is custom in the clan. Though Turtle has to shave more often, especially after using his mystic power.
-Turtle really trained his mystics in the Foot Clan, and caught the attention of Lieutenant and Brute, who asked him to service his mystic talents in the mission to revive The Shredder. Turtle was more than happy to help, and since, has had personal guidance in growing his mystics exponentially. Anything to help the foot!
-Cassandra isn't a fan of Brute and Lieutenant's plan, but she can't say much to oppose as a mere foot soldier. So she's trying her hardest to rise in position and talk Brute and Lieutenant into using someone else. She has time while they find and assemble all the pieces. For now.
-Cassandra and Turtle spend most of their free time together, other than the times Turtle goes out on the town to tag some graffiti. He often comes home with messy clothes that she has to clean up. Cassandra and Turtle get into lots of trouble together, but always clean up each others messes. They love watching Lou Jitsu movies!
-Turtle doesn't have many friends outside of the foot clan, nor is he really interested in them. He's very popular amongst foot recruits.
-Turtle hates the Hamato. If he ever catches one, it's on-site.
-Nicknames include: Tillie (Cassandra given using the last part of his name, and it's used more commonly than his actual name), Michelangelo (a nod to his artistry), Till, Turt, Jones, Foot Recruit, Fire boy, That guy, Hey you, yeah you over there (he'll pretty much answer to anything)
-Turtle has been properly trained in mystic and martial arts. His fighting style is usually free style and he's more interested in having fun than actually fighting you. He's evasive, but will still manage to catch you off guard and capture you. He's non-lethal. He uses nun-chucks usually supported by mystic chains.
-Turtle was the first of his brothers to unlock his ninpo.

And my old art and concepts under the Uncommon Swaps AU tag on my profile, as well as buzz for their designs here.
In this universe, nobody has quirks and everyone in class 1A is getting a miraculous! Cause I found out (if you include the Eagle miraculous) there are enough for everyone! So to start off:
Here we have Butterfly Miraculous holder Midoriya!! His hero name is Hisui, which is a character in a Japanese fairytale who is semi butterfly/fairy themed. Other hero name contenders were: Space Bug, Pychku, and ChōHīrō.
I debated giving him the Rooster, or the Ladybug (MC rules), or the peacock, but in the end, the butterfly felt it fit Dekus themes better. His sacrifice, and his ability to see the best in everyone. He encourages most of the class and pro heros to be better heroes which I really love. He just loves to help people and the butterfly felt like the best way to empower them.
I imagine he spends lots of time in the mindspace like Lila but with less manipulation and more willingness to help. So that’s what’s happening with Kota and Eri.
Some features I like: his bunched up tie turned into a fancy necktie. His antennas which detect emotion. His red shoes! The lighting on the butterfly accompanied by the different colored stars. And I tried to tie in as much of his hero costume as I could but the butterfly miraculous seems to make people fancier.
I imagine Midoriya and Nooroo are very close and bond easily. He’s probably glad he doesn’t have to deal with the stress of a bad user. They have a lot of the same goals and talk frequently.

I’m here to drop a probably low receptive rottmnt headcanon:
I don’t think the boys ever had a “baby” stage in the way everyone imagines. Where they would cry and need care in the same way as a human baby.
I think they were closer to turtle babies- as in able to move and care for themselves from the get go, since turtles are rarely cared for by a caretaker. They probably managed to find themselves food and could eat solid foods from their very first day as mutants. Splinter likely just made sure they could reach it and had access to it. He could probably sprinkle pizza bites on the floor and they would find and eat them.
They probably learned to walk bipedally when they were still very small, and run before Mikey was even one. And they likely didn’t struggle for as long as humans babies do, with stumbling and falling over.
Their development was likely fast tracked, causing them to speak early, whether in chirps or English. Their brain functions that are unique to humans, such as emotion cognition and thoughts of ID and social hierarchy, would have been what took the longest to develop, and what Splinter would’ve had to teach and explain the most.
But in terms of just basic survival, the boys probably took care of themselves. Not necessarily because they were neglected, but because they could.
What if our childhood duo switched places? The start of Quirkless Bakugo

Anyone familiar with that refurbished TikTok trend of the Soldier, Poet, King song? That’s what this is based off of.
Mikey Goes To Oz
<Time spent: 49 hours 17 minutes>
When Mikey takes some time away from a loud family squabble he accidentally ends up getting “flushed” down the sewers. This winds up sending him to the colorful land of Oz where he meets a good witch, a wicked witch, a brainless scarecrow, a heartless Tinman, a cowardess lion, and a powerful wizard, all disguised behind very familiar faces.
A canon adjacent spin off set before the season one finale but after they discover Splinter is Lou Jitsu
2nd, but by no means 2nd best- we have The King of the Jungle, Katsuki Bakugo with the Tiger Miraculous.
I figured if Alya can change the orange fox to white and blue camo- Katsuki can make the purple tiger orange. Since orange is so much more his color.
I thought the Tiger fit him best as Clout is an expressive and explosive power. This design took heavy inspiration from his canon hero design, unlike Midoriya, with some clear deviations. I imagine his claws allow him to aptly scale walls. Once I found tnt looking Bolas, it all came together.
I think Roaar and Bakugo get along well enough, although Roaar hardly tolerates his mean attitude and often talks back to him on his behavior, encouraging him to use his voice for good and kindness, which Bakugo finds annoying.
2 down, 18 to go…
