Hello?? Is anyone here still as obsessed with Veteran duo as I am??? Like, I miss those times where I could discuss their lore and others would be interested in discussing it.

I recently remembered that Fit once considered telling Phil about his mission, but told that Phil wasn't ready for this. And I've already waxed poetics about how they both trust each other with everything, but this. Idk, there's something so real, so genuine in this desire to be loved by your friends, in that fear of losing them, of their rejection. Like, both Phil and Fit share that something is wrong with them, but they don't show each other just how much it is. Something about subconsciously being afraid that your best friend leaves you after finding out just how much you're messed up, despite logically knowing that they're a ride or die.

And to add onto this they both underplay their problems become they desperately want to protect each other. Phil is genuinely scared of Ender King. He feels how much power he holds, despite not having a body. He hopes that Fit never has to hear this name again, cuz he knows that that time might be their last. And Fit knows that to tell Phil about his contract is to condemn him to the same fate. Something about being tied together by this secret. If Fit told Phil about his deal and the secret got exposed, they'd both be punished. And Fit doesn't want to hurt Phil or cause him any problems in the future.

Or maybe he thought that this secret would completely shatter their friendship. He was scared because he would lose one of the most important relationships in his life. I could see Fit subconsciously thinking that "everyone is a fair weather friend" And once the chips were down Phil would leave him. (How many hadestown references can I fit into this analysis lmao)

I like to think that, if the server lasted, Fit would've told Phil about his contract. I would've loved to see this conversation go, cuz either way it would be peak. Maybe I'm too much of a fan, but I believe that Phil would've accepted Fit's true purpose. Not because he agrees with whatever shady shit Madagio is trying to pull. But because he values Fit's friendship more. Something about being scared of whatever may happen in the future, but still staying by your friend's side because you understand why they made the choice and value them more than anything.

Yeah, everyone moved on but I'm stuck at Veterans duo train for forever...

genuinely i think i've absolutely lost it when it comes to philza and fit dude. i just cant get over them.

their characters are so interesting. a 2b2t historian forced to learn how to be a single father and raise a dad, and a hardcore world main married to the goddess of death raising a child alone after his assigned partner can't linger, best of friends.

they don't talk for weeks or days or god knows how long and it doesn't even matter. fit is loud and chaotic and loves instigating mayhem, and phil is usually laid back and chill but gets protective and wrathful when he can, and so when they meet in the middle, god help anyone in the blast radius of whatever hell they're about to create.

forever's pursuits get shut down, and missa isnt around much, and phil's wife isnt there (fit swears there's a crow that phil nuzzles sometimes, though, and they love sitting on his shoulder, and there's his purple sheen to their feathers and - nah. no. not his business. but it would make sense for the goddess of death to be able to take on the appearance of a crow,) yet when fit jokingly makes advances, flirts and makes suggestive jokes, phil laughs and feeds into it or plays along with this scrunch of his nose and a smile and makes fit grin, knowing that's a level of trust that phil doesn't even voice as being one.

phil runs to help him in a fight, shares things with him ("oh, youre too good to me, phil!" and phil laughs at fit's exaggerated tone), and fit doesn't think he's trusted someone this much since before he joined 2b2t for the first time, but he briefly considers telling phil why he's really on this island.

they exist on opposite ends of a spectrum that's something past what humans know - fit's fingers and the tips of his ears stained black with how often he was withered, phil's quick thinking and paranoia learned from the need to survive in a world where he's alone - and yet they get along, clicking together like pieces of a puzzle, sticking like glue.

don't bother praying to any god at all, should they meet in the middle with you as their target, because nothing can save you. not from the historian of 2b2t and the angel of death.
