my muse's favourite food:
i headcanon helena having a huge sweet tooth, honestly. she's a simple gal, she's the most partial to a really decent bar of chocolate.
unfortunately, she doesn't have the best memory associated with her very favourite thing; when she was about six, she was kidnapped by a rival of her father after she had bought a chocolate from a shop called tony's. the rest is unspeakable. it was difficult for her to go back to that shop or feeling human for many years, but she was never truly able to shy away from the sweet comfort, the richness of chocolates.
as a schoolteacher who goes to work every early in the morning and as a vigilante who patrols the late nights in gotham, helena obviously isn't getting her daily eight-hours. that said, she does try to slip in naps into her routine and catches up on sleep intensively during the weekends, because she is very prone to getting hangry as well as cranky without sleeping at least three consecutive hours. that's all she wants.
she doesn't deal with insomnia, but she does deal with nightmares periodically, which can make staying asleep a challenge.
she likes to sleep in the complete dark, but not in complete silence, she'd rather sleep with gotham traffic driving her crazy. she winds down with a cosy book before sleeping, get at least a few pages in if not a couple chapters. she finds the scent of lavender comforting, so that helps her with sleeping too. the best aid for her is a warm bath, but she doesn't always have the spirit to draw one regularly. she also sometimes wears one of those overnight face masks as a part of her skincare routine; helena can sleep still in one position the whole night and not move an inch like the dead.
she's somewhere in between heavy and light sleeper, and she prefers to sleep on her back or her stomach.
additionally: helena can nap with her eyes open sitting or standing, so you can imagine what she's doing whenever batman is speaking at meetings.
i'd say helena is quite good with gifts, on the giving and the receiving end, she knows how to be hospitable after all even if she's not, per se.
helena likes her gifts meaningful or practical, honestly, she can be very sentimental. she'll settle for money if that makes things easier for everybody. she also loves experiences.
she only struggles with expensive gifts as well as frequent gifts, cause again, they feel shallow and inauthentic to her. anything that reminds her of her family's greed is a huge no-no.
best gifts for her: boxed wine (if you're legally allowed to purchase alcohol), any sweet gift for her cat doug (please spoil him with her!), tiny stuffed animals (she has such a secret soft spot for them, she likes them small because she can hide them easily), books, a guided tour of the museum (nerd), anything in purple (of course).
i like to imagine helena regularly gets apples as gifts from her students, which is a sweet gesture but she is one woman against three dozens of apples. send help.
but she always keeps gifts! friendship bracelets, thank you notes from her students, everything! she's sentimental as hell!
