There is a certain group of people on this website that is just RABID to expose Yuuri as being some kind of mediocre pretender to the throne and I’m just like??? That’s what Yuuri’s anxiety wants you to think? The entire anime spends 12 episodes bulldozing into you the idea that Yuuri’s narration is Unreliable. It gets to the point where there’s nothing subtle about it, it’s literally said that Yuuri remembers things incorrectly to fit his bad opinions of himself.

fully admit i haven’t seriously engaged with the fandom by checking tags and reading fics for a while but i hear a bit of stuff, and i think the preference of some parts of the yuri on ice fandom for setting up yuri plisetsky and viktor nikiforov as Fierce Russian Legends, Sharp and Terrifying, doesn’t quite suit the tone of kubo and yamamoto’s creation. i get the appeal, why do you think i shitpost so many headcanons about their spite skating victories!! but their love for yuuri brings out the best in them, both their skating and their characters (have you seen yurio and viktor interacting when they’re alone together lmao. they don’t, uh. they don’t exactly bring out the best in each other at their current maturity levels/this point in their respective character arcs) and if you think you can casually subtract katsuki yuuri from the power trio of figure skaters and Very Good Boys that yuri on ice has given us, uh please don’t

this is a different anon, and not to be disrespectful in any way, but mc didn't really 'out' kaitlyn? her parents just overheard kaitlyn herself saying that to mc? which was unfortunate, of course, with her being unprepared, but still, mc didn't intend for it to happen...i'm really sorry if you meant something else and i misunderstood you :(

mc spent the whole book pushing kaitlyn to do something she didn’t want to do. even if it was just a matter of “wrong place wrong time” that’s not the right way to write a coming out story. it put kaitlyn in a position she couldn’t be comfortable in because it was unplanned and it didn’t involve her being courageous but involved her vulnerability.when lgbt kids come out to their parents, it should be in a time and place that THEY decide and feel safe and comfortable about, like how kaitlyn came out to arjun.kaitlyn coming out to her parents was written to incite a shock factor. it was a forceful way to write her coming out, especially when she said time and time again that she couldn’t do it because she feared her parents would react negatively.kaitlyn was right to need time away from that. her anger and fear were justified. if my parents had to find out i was gay through the means kaitlyn’s did, i would have been terrified and angry too.
