It’s kind of rubbing me the wrong way that people are comparing this to Sherlock or Star Wars or Merlin or Game of Thrones? Like, this is not the same. This was 12 years of systemic queerbaiting, both on and off screen, for it to end in bury your gays. This is a move from subtext to text to literally the arc of the season only to be given an ending that makes exactly zero narrative sense.

We have been on air for longer than any of those shows, and we have been deliberately baited, exploited and then tossed aside. I don’t think people understand just how much we were used. Hell, what kind of fucking show plays up the ‘will we/won’t we’ with respect to resurrection of a lead (who, by the way, has carried the entire thing for years) just to be sure they get their ratings for the last two shitty episodes? Who literally puts the fans into the narrative and tells them that their readings are not only valid, but that they changed the story, then make that the arc of the last season, before pulling a rug out from under everything and yelling PSYCH in the last two episodes?

Supernatural did that. Supernatural alone has done that. Don’t compare this to anything else, because doing that cheapens what’s been done, here. This is not a regular queerbait. This is not regular disappointment with the ending. Because this wasn’t just a bad ending.

Previous askbox game...

A bit ago I got an ask for one of the bazillions askboxgame thingies I never finish. This one was asked more than once: 17)   What’s an aspect of SPN people often point to as a flaw that you really enjoy? Where do I even start? There are so very many things I love about the series that nowadays, fandom points to as “toxic” and “codependent” and wrong for a million different “woke” (often disingenuously so) reasons.  I am 100% a-okay with the show being about Sam and Dean, and not about any iteration of healthy, romantic experience. Give me endless highways, dirty ashtrays and dive bars and moldy motels with jittering neon signs. Sharp-toothed nightmares and no-one-we-can-trust and folklore steeped in American angst. Burn the bunker. Lock up Heaven. I want that tang of the bittersweet; leave all the uwu cinnamon rolls at the suburban malls.   I love the universe that Kripke and Kim Manners styled. I don’t love the toothless, Technicolor YA novel that the show became. I’ll live with it, because it’s my main fandom and it’s what we’ve got, but I will never believe that it became a better show with age. It wasn’t perfect, 15 years ago, and certainly had some growing up to do, but it was lightning in a bottle. That they uncorked and diluted when they poured in smarm. WHOOPS. this isn’t really as wanky as it probably sounds, but i kinda feel like spn is kinda like wheel of time for me at the moment, in that like... i love the stories and i love the characters SO MUCH (and the actors, for spn), but i kinda just want to know what happens to them, and don’t want to deal with the shitty writing so often involved

The thing that upset me, personally, was how rude some of those comments were and how it was used to just promote another ship. which happens sooooooooo much in all the fandoms, and ugh. You are right though interpretations are just interpretations, even with the more shown characters.

I am not gonna try to police your feelings but I'm pretty sure we've all read the same post(s) and I get that seeing someone say "this ship is not as exciting as my ship" might be upsetting to you personally, but I still don't think it's rude. It might have come off as flippant, but we don't have to all love the same things. The amount of times I've seen people say "All Silverflint shippers are [horrible people/delusional/racist/etc] is pretty fucking unprecedented. Let's just keep shit in perspective, friends. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

it is honestly hilarious to me how desperate these men are to hold onto their fucking story. it’s been literal months, and only now do we get an official, explanation (which once again proves that the dumbasses don’t know their own characters but whatever). like. my guy. my dude. the story is no longer yours??? sorry you had to go with your slightly less emo bad ending, but dean and cas just came back from their honeymoon??? they had sweet gay sex on a beach??? they got back late so sam and eileen cooked and jack asked them about what they did on their trip???

i will not buy the big sad explanation book with pictures from a happier time as if your original ending was actually good, andrew. sorry if you wanted to kill all the characters + the band kansas but im different.

Because $300 USD is an absolutely insane price tag for a video from a man who - and I say this with all the love in my heart (truly, I adore him) - is a B-list celebrity whose current net worth is still probably triple what most people’s will ever be. 

I say we each pay a single dollar and get him to read parts of the communist manifesto.

do people know the actual reason we generally dislike w*ncest shippers though??? spoiler alert: it has nothing to actually do with the ship. destiel shippers have a super long history of being bullied, threatened, and yes, kicked out of cons because of a couple of these fans. at one point, you literally could not say you shipped deancas out in the open. which is, funnily enough, why the deancas tag exists in the first place: tagging something destiel used to be an open invitation for your post to be hijacked. 

but it has absolutely nothing to do with the ship! this whole obsession with *ncest being bad because it’s gross IRL smacks of the purity police bullshit that has been pervading fandom for a while now. you have beef because of the way we’ve been historically treated and so you’re wary? more power to you. you have beef because people are shipping two fictional characters and you think it’s gross, so you see that as an open invitation to start picking fights? please re-examine.
