Some more wildlife incoming in the next days, weeks! Spending quite a bit of time in parks/ bush around Perth exploring. How could a bird like this ( and other types of animals ) not be my favourite subject?! This parrot is a rainbow lorikeet and actually considered a pest in Western Australia ( it was accidentally introduced) , as they compete with other local bird species. Well a nice pest to look at I would say. Are there wild parrots where you live? Tell me about it in the comments! An adorable Echidna shuffles along the woodlands in Dryandra. These quaint characters always seem so completely absorbed in their own world, unassumingly, with dirt on its nose and bark and leaf litter in its spikes, this little old soul quietly goes about its daily business
A magnificent Menzies' Banksia or Bulgalla, also known as Firewood Banksia, grows to 10m tall. The delicious nectar attracts an array of animals and birds and the Beeloo Whadjug Noongar people also used it in sweet drinks.
This gorgeous Numbat was very happy to pose for the camera, one of the estimated 400 in Dryandra Woodland, up from as few as 50 individuals 5 years ago. The total surviving population is variously estimated at less than 1,000. #numbat #dryandra #abcmyphoto #waparkswildlife #natgeo #wildlifephotography #aussiewildlife #wildlife https://www.instagram.com/p/B-hKp8sgLf2/?igshid=1uptpaju71bnt
The melodious voice of the drab looking Grey Shrike-thrush never fails to make my heart sing, knowing that I'm in my spiritual home. #birdphotography #dryandra #waparkswildlife #westernaustralia #greyshrikethrush #melodious #spiritualhome https://www.instagram.com/p/B-bo2nZASvw/?igshid=slwju8evlsaa
Sometimes one is blessed with a magnificent moment, rarely is one able to capture and share that beauty exactly as you saw it. I will never grow tired of looking at this little Mardo or Yellow Footed Antechinus, a tiny little marsupial, with its beautiful black eyes and the most adorable little face on its perch in Dryandra Woodland a few days ago. #dryandra #westernaustralia #waparkswildlife #abcmyphoto #wildlifephotography #natgeo #mardo #yellowfootedantechinus https://www.instagram.com/p/B-Tvrz1AZSO/?igshid=1npk5sy0bck3h
An extremely rare Woylie, listed as critically endangered by the IUCN, takes a break from it's night-time digging for fungi to visit me last week at my campsite. Also known as a Brush-tailed Bettong, this tiny marsupial is making a comeback in Dryandra Woodlands after a concerted effort by conservation authorities and farmers to eliminate foxes and feral cats #waparkswildlife #woylie #dryandra #westernaustralia #abcmyphoto #wildlifephotography https://www.instagram.com/p/B-LucWMADMd/?igshid=1quz4ngbfxgmj
