Album Review: War Orphan - Unite (Stay Gold Records)
Oozing positive vibes but filtered through the uncompromising sound of hardcore, War Orphan’s Unite is an empowering listen.
On their second full length in two years, War Orphan focus on the positive. The band’s debut was a scathing political record meant to encapsulate the sentiment of the times and spark change. On Unite, War Orphan focus on positivity and personal change. The record is an encouragement to the listener to embark on a path of self-discovery and self-improvement. It will be released on February 17th,…

Last night i read Michaela DePrince's book "Taking flight. For War orphan to star ballerina" and i strongly encourage everyone to read it. My heart beats for Ballet/dance in general more than it does for most other things. And that book made me cry so much tears for that little girl with a photo and a dream that in the end came true. And for her American adoptiv who gave up so much to adopt orphans that were sure to die if they wouldn’t make i out of westafrica and gave them a future. She raised 11 kids in total. She lost 3 sons. She is my hero.
Michaela DePrince and her mom inspired me beyond words. If a little girl that had to see the entirety of war, including seeing her mom dying, seeing her teacher being killed, almost got killed herself a few times, got beaten and almost starved, could hold on to a magazine Picture and a dream, and ended up being a famous star ballerina, what excuse do we have to not chase our dreams ? To give up ?
And Elaine DePrince, her mom, thank you. I always thought I could maybe somewhen adopt a child, but you just made that a more valid thought. I think I put that on the list of things I want to achive in life. Give a child a future. I really hope future me is bold enough to adopt a child and make this world a little better. If there is one thing I can say about myself in 20 years, I hope its this.
Please everybody. Read that book. Watch her dance. Be Inspired. Chase your dreams. And do good in that world
Happy Christmas/Happy Holidays.
I’ll go cry some more
