OC Wardrobe Game!

Thank you to @amoremagnificentbastard for the tag. :) I modified the format a bit, but the tldr is to post pics of your character's wardrobe with a pic of your character alongside!

The first row of images are variations on Halinae's outfits from Menzoberranzan. Silk shifts as underclothing, more structured garments for outerwear. I envision clothes in Menzo to have a lot of "wrapping" and "webbing" details. Stiff starched collars and heavy formal layering would be worn for visits to Lolth's temple. The second row of images are variations on Halinae's outfit from the Savage Frontier: the gown is an old hand-me-down from a local farmer's wife. It's made of wool to protect against the harsh weather, including thick woolen hose. This is the outfit Halinae starts her adventure in. The third row of images are outfits she might wear in Baldur's Gate. There are some more formal gowns (one of which echoes some of the designs of Menzoberranzan in a nod to her heritage), but as a rule, she prefers to blend in with the more simple gowns when out and about in the city. :)

These were fun to make. I will 99% never buy all the apparel slots and apparel for these outfits, but it’s still nice to imagine. :P

Wardrobe Post Part 2: Planning

Part 2: Baby Steps for Inspiration There's this tendency, when you decide you want new clothes, or even just to wear the ones you already have in new ways, to just GO OUT AND BUY THINGS. And then you bring them home and they become just part of your same, predictable outfits and you've spent a lot of money without much coming out of it. I have done that too many times to count. I still occasionally do that. At this stage, there's no clothes buying. This is all information gathering. It's research time. And it is fun research. The internet is amazing. It's also daunting when it comes to fashion. I'll be honest, I don't follow a lot of fashion blogs. I wanted an everyday but put-together style, and a lot of the big name bloggers don't really do that for me anymore. You might be able to get more out of them than I do. To find them, google is your friend,  (keyword) fashion blog has found me plenty of cool people. What works better for me is places like http://wiwt.com, the what I wore today tags on tumblr, /r/femalefashionadvice, or places where there is a mass of people who show off their own outfits, and aren't really trying to sell you anything. Also: Pinterest. If you don't have one already, start one, create a style inspiration board and go through the women's fashion feed. And just start pinning anything you find interesting. Don't worry about if it will "look good on you". What you are looking for is ideas and patterns. Follow the boards you find interesting. After you've got a few pins, start looking for those patterns. For example here's my cultivated style board The pattern I picked up was jackets,  a-line and pencil skirts, layered structure and a casual type of feminine primness. Take your time at this step. If developing a style is important to you, then this is where the development happens. You might find you like a minimalist look,  or "preppy", or things that are completely off the wall. Your style could just be neat ways to wear your geek shirts. AND THAT'S TOTALLY OKAY. This is your style and no one here is going to judge you. And if you start with one look and then later, discover others, that's awesome. See, we might wear fashion as part of our identity, but how we think of ourselves and our tastes CHANGE. And there's no harm in exploring that. So that's your Action Step: Start Looking. Identify Patterns. An excuse to get a pinterest account (like you needed one)
