Worker who allegedly set fire to California warehouse compares self to Luigi Mangione

Chamel Abdulkarim was charged with felony and state arson counts after allegedly destroying property worth nearly $600m

An employee who allegedly burned down a California warehouse compared himself to Luigi Mangione in a message to co-workers after setting the fire, according to authorities in a Friday press conference, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The warehouse fire broke out at 12.30am on Tuesday, with police arresting Abdulkarim shortly after. The fire quickly progressed into a six-alarm blaze, with about 175 firefighters responding to the emergency. The blaze resulted in more than $600m in damage, with $500m in paper products destroyed as well as the $150m warehouse.

If the warehouse fires have done nothing else they've exposed how fucking shitty companies are to warehouse workers, because they can't actually tell how many of these fires are arson and how many are just the companies being really, really lazy about basic fire safety and letting all their fire suppression mechanics go because hey, if workers die in a fire, who cares? Just pay off the families and move on.
