I just remembered I have this one Head-Cannon:

Any guardians that use arc energy have these scars on them, like, the scars you get when you get struck by lightening and because it’s light energy ghosts have trouble trying to heal/ remove them.

if the guardian has already existing scars they’ll stay the same, or a ghost could heal them, but if they use arc energy and the scars from the arc start to form then they’re permanent.
