The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs and Yakama Nation recently reached out to my mom, among other Cherokee Nation people, for donations of food, cleaning supplies, and water most of all.
PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING TO OREGON AND WASHINGTON NATIVE COMMUNITIES CURRENTLY WITHOUT ACCESS TO SUFFICIENT SUPPLIES.
You may have heard of the Warm Springs water pipes busting and leaving them without running water. There is a Yakima Nation fishing community on the Washington coast living about an hour drive from their tribal lands, effectively removed from supply distribution. Both of these groups need your help.

The entire #WestCoast is on #Fire right now, and I'd think it safe to say for the first time in my entire life, and I was born #PacNW #LeftCoast. Last week a friend lost a whole property in a fire. Another friend just drove from NorCal to PDX - almost 700 miles - and the entire drive was blanketed in fairly thick #Smoke the whole ride. LA currently has the biggest fire in recorded history going on. This video looks like something from #ApocalypseNow, or some war flick. I do my best to remain an optimist, but folks, we may have just done fucked ourselves. What to be done from here...well I haven't stopped driving my car yet. But maybe I should? Should everyone start riding motorcycles finally? What can we do as a human race to help stop our whole planet from going up in flames that we can all actually rally behind? This was a spooky sight after leaving the @globaleclipsegathering, where we had already been inundated with smoke for most of the week. I love you #PlanetEarth! #TimeForChange #OnFire #BurningAcres #ItsGettingHotInHere #SaveThePlanet #Apocalypse #Oregon #PacificNorthwest #ElSol #Sun #SmokeClouds #Wanderlust #TravelTheWorld #ForestFire #WarmSprings (at Warm Springs Indian Reservation Oregon)

Ghosts of the past...
From the Wikipedia entry on Route 66:
In the 1950s, US 66 became the main highway for vacationers heading to Los Angeles. The road passed through the Painted Desert and near the Grand Canyon. Meteor Crater in Arizona was another popular stop. This sharp increase in tourism in turn gave rise to a burgeoning trade in all manner of roadside attractions, including teepee-shaped motels, frozen custard stands, Indian curio shops, and reptile farms. Meramec Caverns near St. Louis, began advertising on barns, billing itself as the "Jesse James hideout." The Big Texan advertised a free 72 ounce steak dinner to anyone who could consume the entire meal in one hour. It also marked the birth of the fast-food industry: Red's Giant Hamburg in Springfield, Missouri, site of the first drive-through restaurant, and the first McDonald's in San Bernardino, California. Changes like these to the landscape further cemented 66's reputation as a near-perfect microcosm of the culture of America, now linked by the automobile.

Jefferson Pools
Warm Springs, Va Graflex, x-ray film, old Kodak lens with one element replaced. These beautiful old bathhouses are owned by the Omni Hotels group as part of the Homestead resort. They've been allowed to decay to an unbelievable extent. I understand that Omni intends to begin restoration soon, but it can't be soon enough. Jefferson didn't build these, he just bathed here.
