Even in victory, there’s no peace. This was an emotionally intense piece to create, balancing gore, grief, and a glimmer of hope beneath the bloodied snow. Thank you to my client for letting me bring this lone warrior’s moment to life.
So this was a sketch that turned into a fully rendered pair of portraits for my current story obsession. I have been feeling so drained and anxious that writing has been hard. Still I've been crafting a backstory for Prince Kaelen and his love and queen Teliska.
I am planning on having them as part of my characters for Art fight because they just look so cool and I think people might like drawing them.
Kaelen comes from a mountainous kingdom that is connected very closely to dragons. So connected that the humans of the kingdom over time began to evolve and mutate to share traits with the dragons. The royalty especially have these traits which is why instead of a beard Kael has golden scales across his face. I'm still figuring out the magic rules of that world and how the dragons play into that but I love the idea and his love story with his queen as they fight through hell to get to safety and stay together has really made me feel relaxed as I craft it.
Hopefully I can make come complete character sheets in time for art fight. If not next year will be my year

Bad day prompts || Accepting
Some days Terence wishes that he wasn't so obvious with his emotions. He may be Dion's lover, but he is also his right hand, his closest confidant. It is up to him to be strong for him, to be someone to lean on...yet it doesn't always work out like that. Terence has always worn his heart on his sleeve, has always made his needs and thoughts and feelings known. Some days are just harder than others.
Then again, he and Dion don't even need to speak to be able to understand each other. There's been a lot going on at home. His father is elderly and his health hasn't been the greatest. His mother wrote to him, telling him that he may need to come home soon to say his goodbyes. Terence lets out a long breath, folding up the letter and immediately sensing Dion nearby. He blinks a few times, opening his mouth to speak, but words fail him.
"Dion, I--" His voice cracks, and he shakes his head. Dion is soon next to him, taking his hand and looking at him so earnestly that Terence's heart might burst. "..I'll be okay," he murmurs, swallowing hard. "I promise."
