Yesterday’s show at the @westbrookoutlets was so memorable. Not only did a few ornaments go to their 4Ewa homes, but I was also honored with the presence of two survivors who shared their stories with me. I am always so honored when survivors open up to me with their stories of surviving domestic violence. I think that survivors and victims see and feel my vulnerability as well as support and that is why they feel that I am a space person to open up to. I never take it lightly and I always speak from the heart. I work hard to remind survivors and myself that it is NEVER your fault for being abused and that you are not weak because it happened to you. Abusers work really hard to groom their victims and they work even harder to show others what a nice person they are so that when the truth comes out, those people can’t believe that suck a “nice” person could abuse someone. That’s why many survivors lose a lot of people when they leave. As survivors it’s important to surround ourselves with people who love, support, and connect with us. I have formed so many amazing relationships since ending my silence in 2012. I found my people and for that I am grateful. You, reading this right now, you’re my people 💜 I’ve been speaking and sharing my art with the world since 2014 and yesterday as I’m talking to shoppers I noticed that my voice no longer shakes when I speak to them about my story and the work that I am doing. I know it’s because I keep building my self confidence and I truly believe in what I am doing. I am proud of myself and grateful to have survived so that I can help others. Thank you for being a part of my beautiful journey 💜 #journey #warriorspath #domesticviolencestories #abusesurvivor #domesticviolenceawareness #domesticviolencesurvivor #givingback #makingadifference #shareyourstory #hearmeroar #ceramicart #ceramicornaments #ornaments #amaco #artivism #nevergiveup #communitylove https://www.instagram.com/p/CW1GKmVPKY-/?utm_medium=tumblr
