Welcome to the bone zone. :P

This was originally inspired by @sarcasticasides​‘s wartime Gaster stuff but it just kind of exploded into its own thing??? 

Bonus black and white version and related headcanon garbage below the cut.

Prior to his appointment as the Royal Scientist and before the retreat into the underground, W.D. Gaster was employed in the service of the King as a court magician and played an integral role in the war effort against the oncoming human attackers. As a skilled magic user, he garnered a reputation for being particularly merciless towards his enemies.

Through his time on the surface, Gaster learned many things about humans. One very, very interesting thing of particular note: despite their stronger physical forms, humans are so very full of bones.

Grillby cleared his throat as Gaster's tale came to an end, letting out a quiet and teasing, "Well, it's a small miracle you made it here safe. After all, not many monsters can survive a one-man barricade such as that." Gaster frowned, exclaiming incredulously, "Was... was that sarcasm, General?" Grillby did his best to hide a smirk, "Of course not. I'm being completely serious about this." "You're teasing me, aren't you?" "What? No." "That thing almost killed me!" Grillby couldn't help but smile now, "But it didn't."

So a friend of mine on Deviantart has started an Undertale Au for themselves, DT Tale? And like... holy cheese their designs for wartime Grillby/Gaster are beautiful. Like I was completely blown away.

And to anyone wondering! This little blurble is actually supposed to be a continuation of a comic they made that I totally recommend you checking out!
