4C Natural Hair | Wash Day Routine by LifeasJaimisha
2016 Summer Wash routine
I think I've figured it out! Lol at least for the summer 1. Put my oil mixture on my hair and finger detangle (let sit for at least 8 hours)Put hair in four plats 2. Undo plats and then put a conditioner on the hair twist it back up and let that sit for 15 to 30 minutes 3. Rinse everything out of hair with warm water then apply shampoo mix. While mix is still in apply ACV 4. Rinse out shampoo and ACV squeeze out water then add conditioner 5. Add more ACV then Let conditioner sit while I wash my body 6. Rinse everything out with cool water 7. Spray hair with aloe Vera juice 8. Apply small amount of leave in 9. Apply oil and twist hair up! That's it! Every week until it gets cold.
I made a Youtube video showing how I wash my Natural Hair. People ask me how I do my hair so I just finally recorded my process. Hope you guys like it and it helps you out if you’re natural :)
Wash Routine
There are many opinions about washing cloth diapers, and many people have developed additional steps and routines based on their individual ...
Hair Update
After trying tons of "natural" remedies to control my dandruff:
- Dr. Bronner's (this is actually really strong, you should dilute it)
- Baking Soda (also needs to be heavily diluted if you're going to use)
- ACV: Apple Cider Vinegar (guess what...dilute!)
- Tea Tree Oil
- Peppermint Oil/Tea
I am now heading back to good ol' Head and Shoulders, the two-in-one brand. Nothing else I try works is as effective (ACV actually works pretty well, I just have to wash my hair every 7 - 10 days, that's too often for me), Head and Shoulders is just a solid shampoo if you need to get your flakes on lock.
Now, how do I use it?
UPDATED WASH ROUTINE
Split hair into 4 equal sections, light finger detangle
Prepoo = Hot oil treatment (consisting of Neem oil, jojoba, castor, olive oil) leave in for 30-60 minutes, finger detangle a little
Shampoo = half dollar size amount diluted in an 8 ounce applicator bottle
Conditioner = put it on my hair let it sit for 5 -30 minutes whatever i'm feeling, finger detangle under water as I rinse out conditioner
Wrap in towel and air dry.
Style as usual.
Now, I can hold off washing my hair for about 2 to 3 weeks. That coupled with scalp moisturizing (yes! my scalp produces almost ZERO natural oils, so I greeeezzzeeee it.) I'm already noticing the difference. It doesn't itch as much, and I hardly see any flakes.
FINALLY, I FIGURED MY HEAD OUT!
...only took like a year of trial and error....
Cloth Diaper Wash Routine in a Front Loader
After a few months with our new front loading washing machine and some trial and error, I think I've figured out a good wash routine for my #cloth diapers. For a while some of my inserts were coming out of the dryer with a faint urine smell still on them, so I made some adjustments to my routine and I think it's worked well. For anyone with a front-loading machine, maybe this will help you if you're trying to figure out a wash routine: The key is getting enough water to pass through your diapers during the rinse/washing process, and with front loaders it's a bit more of a challenge since the cycles use less water than traditional top loaders do! I've found this works best to get my diapers nice and clean: I use a dry pail with a lid to store dirtied diapers in a pail liner, and wash diapers every other/every 2 days. I use a diaper sprayer to spray poopies. I make my own detergent. Initial RINSE: Warm rinse, on Delicate/Handwash Cycle. (Delicate/Handwash cycle uses the most water and gives a great rinse to the diapers) NO detergent. NO spin. (No spin is important, this leaves the diapers sopping wet and heavy in the drum, tricking your machine into spitting out more water for your next step; your wash with detergent.) HOT WASH: Normal or Heavy Duty wash cycle, HOT temperature, 1-2 scoops of your choice of detergent, NO spin. (No spin again, to make the diapers heavy enough to trick your washer into using more water for your next step, the final rinse.) Final Rinse: Cold Tempurature. For this cycle I'll either do another Delicate/Handwash cycle with NO detergent or the Rinse+Spin cycle option on my washer. Both seem to use enough water to really rinse my diapers clean of any residue or detergent. Select a medium/high spin. I hang dry my pockets and covers, and I throw all my inserts and fitteds in the dryer for normal dry on high until dry. Message me with any questions you may have, I've read a TON of advice and forums on cloth wash routines!
