I'd love to hear what backstory you have for demon Aziraphale 👀

Okay, so, I’ve always found it hard to imagine Aziraphale falling. Not that he’s a perfect. Far from it, lol. However, it’s not like any of his nonsense in canon makes him fall, so I didn’t think it could just be something like that, especially not way back when all the other angels fell. He clings very tightly to his side being right and such and without thousands of years of build up and Crowley’s influence, it was hard to imagine him rebelling.

My thought was that he fell because he refused to fight against certain angels. He has shown canonically that he’ll accept violence for the greater good but he also gave his sword away and is reticent to turn to violence himself because it’s harder to rationalize that. So I imagine he was ordered to fight against some of the rebels who maybe (like Crowley) didn’t seem so bad and he couldn’t stomach it. Thus he was declared a rebel himself and was made to Fall.

As for the meet cute, I have such a hard time imagining Crowley being tasked with guarding Eden lmao. Like, maybe it’s because I so thoroughly envision him as noodly awkward star nerd when an angel but I just don’t see anyone turning to him for that. Instead, I’d have him be there to check things out, like I did in my angel au. As in the au, he’d still be the one to accidentally get Eve to eat the apple. Meanwhile Aziraphale, who’d been sent up to cause some trouble, got sidelined sampling fruits and such in the Garden. He’d end up jumping in to take credit for Original Sin, obviously so he looks like a big bad demon and not to save the skin of the cute angel.

As a punishment for not stopping Aziraphale, Crowley would be made to stay on Earth to thwart him ever after. Aziraphale, meanwhile, would be rewarded with the job of causing trouble on Earth. So then Aziraphale would get to live his best indulgent life and continue to take credit when Crowley would accidentally stir up trouble with humans by asking questions. Basically a variation of the Arrangement that just lets them be chill idiots, bad at their respective jobs.

Aziraphale would still have his shop but he’d be more likely to actually sell. Only the books would just happen to find their way back into his shop sooner or later (sooner if the customer particularly annoyed him in someway).
