Shane is knee-deep into tedious edits when the ding of a calendar alert pulls him back to the real world. Before checking it, he stretches and rolls his neck, wincing at the creaks and squeaks of his bones under his tense muscles. The office is dark and almost empty, only Steven still typing on his laptop, curled up on the Weekly couch. Shane turns on his desk lamp and pulls up his calendar app.
