TVE Snippet - Kaz and Wylan
Kaz had the cabbie drop him off two streets away from the house. The car that had followed them the last four turns kept going. A coincidence, nothing more.
He was glad to have moved out of the cramped little flat in the Slat but his paranoia missed having five floors of loyal, angry Dregs between him and the front door.
The house was quiet when he got in. The only person in the living room was Wylan, headphones in.
He turned the second he heard Kaz’s cane on the hardwood, yanking the earbuds out of his ears and crossing the room to him.
He stopped just on the edge of Kaz’s personal space, hands fidgeting at his sides. He wants something. “Hi,” he said, blushing slightly.
“Hello,” Kaz replied, allowing himself half a smile.
Wylan grinned in response. “Can I kiss you?” he asked.
“You don’t have to ask.” You don’t ask Jesper.
Wylan hummed, refusing to engage. “Indulge me.”
Kaz nodded. He was still buzzing from his little chat. He felt invincible.
Wylan grabbed the back of Kaz’s neck and pulled him in, greedy as always. He kissed a path across Kaz’s cheek to the underside of his jaw. He had a strange fascination with Kaz’s jaw, for some reason.
“Missed you,” Wylan mumbled, as if they hadn’t seen each other four hours ago. His breath tickled the short, buzzed hair by his ear. Need to cut it. It’s getting scruffy again. “Your meeting was over ages ago. Where’d you go?”
“The stadhall,” Kaz replied. “Van Eck and Brum were having a meeting so I thought I’d drop by.”
“Very funny,” Wylan said, pressing another kiss to Kaz’s jaw with just the barest hint of teeth. “Where’d you actually go?”
“The stadhall,” Kaz repeated.
Wylan stepped back. “Are you serious?”
“Always.” Kaz had learned not to joke about Van Eck with Wylan.
“Why would you do that?” Wylan’s hand caught Kaz’s jaw, jerking his head left and right with an efficient lack of care. “Are you hurt?”
“Fuck off, I’m fine,” Kaz said, swatting away Wylan’s hand. Wylan raised an eyebrow. “Brum pulled a gun on me, that was it.”
Apparently, that wasn’t the right answer. Wylan turned towards the hallway. “Inej!”
