Summary: Aikotoba had arrived too late. Monster was missing, and with the reports of a large wave of monsters tearing through city after city, they’d need all hands on deck.

“Moooonnnnsteeeerrrr! Where arrreee yoooouuu?!” Aikotoba called out to the ravaged city, but no one responded. He hadn’t known what to expect; huge fights like Monster’s always left the crime scene eerily empty.
Or at least, no one responded except Neon. “He’s already gone. If he’s worth all of your praise, he’ll be back when the remaining dark forces arrive. Otherwise, we should be collecting the rest of the M.G.G.”
With a sigh, Aikotoba glanced over to his new company. The Mage looked antsy, shifting uncomfortably and gripping his god-gifted necklace with enough force to break it… had it simply been normal necklace.
“If you want to try and gather forces in the other half of this country, please, be my guest! I’m gonna continue to look for our leader, since a voice from a fucking necklace isn’t going to lead us any better than you!”
‘Well, forgive me. Give you lot powers and this is the thanks I get?’
“Sorry, a voice from a necklace that chooses when it wants to be more than a damn accessory!” Aikotoba unhelpfully added. There was a grumble before the voice retreated back into its home.
Neon, ever the suck up he was, was quietly sending a prayer to the said reclusive god. Something like ‘Forgive this fool, he knows not of what wonders you gift.’ And ‘He does not understand the consequences of his words, a divine intervention shan’t be necessary.’
Aikotoba scoffed. “While you’re busy praying to a necklace, I’ll continue looking for Monster.”
And despite the other man’s personality, all he could do was glare at Tobe as he continued apologizing.
Aikotoba quickly ran off further into the ruins before he called out again, “Monsteeeer?!”
The shout echoed, the sound bouncing around the suit-wearing Kyo in what felt like an attempt to scare the Kyo into finding his division. It didn’t work, though Aikotoba was a bit unsettled.
When the sound suddenly stopped- not fading out, mind you. Completely stopped- Aikotoba sighed. The manipulation of sound was a tell-tale sign of one specific person.
Another Kyo, this time with hair and eyes that mirrored that of a Nintendo Switch, hopped down from a large pile of rubble. “I heard you and Neon. He isn’t wrong, we should be trying to get everyone before the horde arrives.”
“Wavefile, you’ve seen the reports- there’s no time for trying to get the team in Neksdor, or Realm of Fey! Monster is the strongest out of all of us, so without him, Miitopia might-”
Aikotoba cut himself off. Though it wasn’t explicitly said, given the reports that Plane Theory had printed, the group was little less than screwed. If they really couldn’t get it together…
“Okay, Aikotoba, I’m gonna have to ask you to calm down. We have the Great Mage on our side- Even if they don’t finish off the upcoming group, we should at least be able to take on the remaining ones, but only if we have all hands on deck.” The Pop-Star was doing his best to try and stay positive, but in the face of certain doom, such hopeful thinking wasn’t really useful.
“Wavefile, look at this from my perspective: All of your friends disappeared back into their respective cities without even saying goodbye. The ones that did stay are either missing or too busy fucking to-”
“Okay that’s a bit much-”
“-But it’s true, Wavefile! Everyone just up and left after we sealed off the Dark Lord, and it’s just been awful! Only Monster is there for me now, and he’s missing, and no one except for me gives a damn!” Tears pricked at the edges of Aikotoba’s eyes as he ranted.
He’d kept every thing bottled up for so long, and once he’d started ranting, he didn’t care if he started breaking down in the middle. Wavefile needed to hear this.
The Chef stiffly continued. “We used to- We used to be so close, Wavefile. Saving people’s faces from Yin, running errands for the king and just… being friends. After we were, you know, I thought we’d get closer. Sure as hell seemed that way too. But once Monster saved us, we weren’t really the same, were we?”
Wavefile didn’t respond, though Tobe didn’t expect him to. With a shaky breath, Aikotoba finished quietly, “If you don’t want to help me, then please just- Don’t bother me. I’d be better off without you.”
Aikotoba ran deeper into to ruins, ignoring both his and Wavefile’s tears.
