Waywardbound World building (Hemospectrum)
In my fanventure, Waywardbound, the reader follows the story of humans and trolls working together to beat a video game. A video game called "Simate". However, that is for a different lesson. In this post, I'm going to explain the expanded Hemospectrum of the Waywardbound universe.
In Waywardbound, many of the trolls are considered "off spectrum". This means they are not the traditional bloodcolors we see in Homestuck/Hiveswap. Rolner, for example, is an Agateblood. This is a bloodcolor that is between Rust and Bronze. However, the trolls in Waywardbound don't exactly live on Beforus or Altearnia. They live on two separate planets: Pastorsia and Presotin. On these planets, the 12 original bloodcolors still exist, as seen with Faltuh and her Purpleblood.
However, the rest of the trolls are not traditional in their coloring. Ranging from Yarnmu's Saffron to Lorial's (rare) Plum. This happened because on these planets an odd genetic phenomena began to take place. Bloodcolors would shift and mix, creating gradients of pre-existing ones. This eventually lead to a much, much bigger hemospectrum, and thus lead to much more diversity in troll society. This appears to only be present on certain planets, though.
Those who have the blood of the core 12 colors are known as "Purebreds" or "Purebloods" while those outside of the core colors are often referred to as "Mutts" or "Crossbloods" in a derogatory way.
On Pastorsia, Mutts were protected by the government, and often had there own towns and villages to flee to if they felt threatened. On Presotin, however, hatred and Hemophobia runs wild, and many Mutt trolls are culled for being "off spectrum". Some highbloods even fear that Mutts are more prone to rebellion than others, so they are put under heavier surveillance than other bloodcolors.
