Part 1 of Yap o'clock!

Yet another warning for spoilers below the cut!!

I missed Nirei and Sugi interactions ngl. At this point I think Nirei is the only one (besides Ume, probably) who can so freely touch/talk to Sugi without incurring his wrath.

SOOOOOOOOO SWEET. SO SWEET. Just the casual reinforcement of friendship + no one suddenly dislikes him because of his shitty childhood. His confused little head tilt oh sweetheart.

I've known this kid for all of one day but I love him already. He's just like me fr. Super shy + can't interact with famous people. I cannot wait to see more of him. I know it's unlikely but what I'd give for him to have the same hair color as Akane from Horimiya. I just think it'd suit him. Akane if you're out there

Rip Kotoha's shopping budget fr. Poor girl does not get paid enough to deal with this. But like how sweet of Sugi to take everyone to Pothos for a meeting a la Ume!!

Oh look at the time it's Yap About 192 o'clock! (Part 2)

I love seeing them in class it's so cute to me. Obsessed with how defensive everyone is over their Sakura, ESPECIALLY Nirei. Hits especially harder knowing Sakura's told them about his past; they really truly do love him! (Me too class 1-1 me too)

I don't have anything really to say here beyond: what a cutie pie. That's all.

Legit one of my fave little quirks of his is how he scratches his hair. Idk man it's just so endearing! So sweet! Like he's a little shy and/or embarrassed but not enough to blush about it. His lack of reaction to Momi's attitude speaks volumes about all the shit he endured as a kid + even his mental strength first arriving in Makochi. He knew from the jump he'd be an outsider, expected to be picked on for his looks. This isn't his first rodeo as it were. Smh Sakura said Sugi's name three times and guess what happens shortly after

Really really love these panels here. I think Sakura's understanding of other people is underrated, even by those who know him--and sure, he was a bit of a hothead when we first met him, and it did take a bit for him to reach this point--but I'm of the mind he always wanted to get to know other people. By the time the story starts, he'd been so hurt that he can only see a potential threat when interacting with others. Him reaching this point is huge + speaks to his character as someone who fought not just for the hell of it (mostly), but as someone who had no choice.

Do you hear my heart breaking. Besides the obvious meanings here, do you think that little kid!Sakura asked himself "why won't people get to know me before hating me?" Do you ever think about how Sakura has never, ever judged anyone on appearance? How he only leaps into a fight bc of something his opponent said, or did, or they attacked first? Didn't include the panel here bc I'm already at pic limit but. but. the way everyone else instantly softened and realized they're judging Momi too harshly. Ough.

Boy is SOOOOOOOOOO ready to tussle. Class bonds don't matter in the face of an unprovoked attack I get it

They are so stupid (said with extreme fondness.) I've said it before I'll say it again: I love love love how Nii-sensei does not forget their cast is full of teenage boys, so they do stupid Teen Boy Things

Part 2 of my panel roundup! (Part 1)

Parallels my beloved :)

First Ume stopped Sakura during the Shishitoren fight, then Sakura stopped Suo during the KEEL fight, and here's our future leader once more stepping in. Which begs the question--do we think Sakura ever went too far? Back when he was a kid who didn't understand why everyone hated him so much? Oh how my heart breaks for him :(

Yeah I don't think anyone was expecting to see Momi crying! What happened in his past? I have some thoughts we'll get to those in a bit. Sakura's expression here is interesting, too. Shock, for sure, and perhaps some understanding? Either way, since WBk has always relied on others and their experiences in relation to Sakura's own growth, I do believe we'll get more backstory crumbs through a conversation with Momi. A fistfight convo or a regular one, take your pick lmao. (Then again I don't want to predict anything anymore bc the story never goes how I think rip)

Ok. So. Momi loves Makochi and respects Furin's mission. But this feels deeply personal in a way that speaks of something happening that fundamentally changed Momi's outlook. Kind of like how Ume's entire life changed after The Accident. I love narrative foils btw this entire dynamic is going to be sooooo interesting going forward

Foreshadowing, mayhaps???

I wonder if Momi is atoning for something. Did he trust an outsider, then get betrayed? Or did an outsider harm his family? Is that why he takes it so seriously?

My dear sweet Nirei. He's so upset on Sakura's behalf.

I do think it's interesting we end this chapter the same way it begins--a shot of the Market Street sign. It could be a reminder that Bofurin protects the town. It could be a way of showing basically everyone in Makochi has accepted Sakura as one of their own. There's def a symbolism there I'm just not smart enough to grab HAHA

I love these exact panels when Sakura is visibly surprised seeing Momijikawa’s teary eyes. I think Sakura immediately understood that Momijikawa has gone through a lot.

Wbk manga spoilers, chapter 192

New chapter loaded with wholesomeness and character growth

As much as I'm getting impatient to know what happened on the rooftop, regarding Sakura's backstory,

It's actually pretty smart to tease us by putting the aftermath first, making us even eager to know what happened.

Just look at that smile 🥰

Regarding his character growth,

This already happened with Suo, but now it also happened with Momijikawa, who unlike Suo, isn't close to him at all.

All the talk his senpais gave him regarding getting to know people and trust the others really start to reflect on him, clearly.

Now to wonder if he became capable of such over time and trust or was always able to but shut himself off because of what happened to him in the past...

Another detail I really liked,

Suo is unprankable.

And yet

He didn't doge Sakura swatting his earrings.

I wish to our boys to always ever stand together 🙏❤️
