So sorry I didn’t see this for ages!!! My notifs got swamped lol. But yeah I adore stuff like shutter island and the new spider man noir series (please go watch the trailer it’s fully black and white and so stylistically similar to a 40’s detective romp that I’m chewing at the walls of my enclosure to watch it)

I’m currently studying media at A level so we’ve done a few studies on the knives out movies too which are soo ingenious like the use of red stained glass on the camera lens to visually represent the priest’s rage clouded judgment and the way the light literally halos juds head being repeated when beniot pretends to have a religious realisation to signal that he’s taken on the actual point of that talk with jud on (having grace) rather than the more initially obvious saint like connotations.

Idk if your into musicals but I’m trained in that form of singing (I’m performing when you’re good to mama from chicago soon and I’m so excited) so I’m super invested in it as a medium and one that I’ve loved recently is hadestown, it’s an incredible retelling of the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice and the jazz mixed in with some more folky vibes is so buzzy! When the chips are down and wait for me (reprise) version are some personal favs but the west end recording is so much better than the original imo.

I also recently saw Hamilton live and that fucking set alone almost made me cry it was so well done and the whole bullet character (iykyk) was so much more obvious in person but that worked better than it ring some secret Easter egg lol
