Dear Fanfiction writers,

If you’re going to write an X Male!Reader fic please don’t use “(M/n)” that makes it feel like it’s still targeting female audiences with the whole “Genderbend” twist on it. If someone is choosing to read an X Male!Reader they generally don’t align with the feminine gender and if they do they should be prepared to see the fic being catered to masculine aligning audiences. Just use Y/n or if you don’t like that, use the Second Person Point of View narrative. When I try to read an X Male!Reader and see (M/n) I feel alienated in this space I wanted to feel safe in. It takes away from the experience and makes me feel like I don’t belong here. Please take this into consideration and think about the audience you’re actually trying to cater to.
