It's kinda heartbreaking to go back to Pluribus ep 1 and see the goofy excitement of the guy who first discovered the signal, of the researchers bouncing ideas off each other of what it could be, of the fans meeting Carol and posting "BEST WYCARO EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" online, and the way the Barnes & Noble intercom guy pronounces "Wycaro" wrong, and the lab security guy who brought donuts into work just because, and the lab tech who doesn't want to have to euthanize the rats, and the other lab tech who only notices the rat not moving in its cage because he happened to drop his glove in front of it. It's all so accidental and random - and, if you ask someone like Carol perhaps, mindless - but it is also so wonderfully, uniquely human.
