Mike did the same thing as Will in the van scene, Will told Mike he is the leader and the heart so Mike heard him and got the courage to become who he is supposed to be again. Now, Mike told Will that he is able to use his powers and that he is a sorcerer and that's exactly what happened. Will learned how to accept himself and also used the love from the people around him to do it. That's why when he closes his eyes and remembers his happy moments, he thinks of his family and Mike, because he gives him strength to fight and be who he really is.
