I've been rotating this idea in my mind for a few days and I need to let it out so that I can be free of it.

I'm not a confident/talented enough writer to make this a fic (maybe some day) so below the cut is my "Hear me out" of how we can have Daniel and Max as team mates again.

Okay, so. First of all, this all hinges on Aston Martin being good in the new regulation cycle - so let's just assume that.

Let's also assume Daniel even wants to come back (he doesn't but this is for funsies).

Now we've established that baseline:

- Daniel is friends with Scotty James.

- Scotty is married to Chloe Stroll.

- Chloe is Lance Stroll's sister.

- Lance Stroll is one of the weaker drivers on the grid, gets a lot of flack from fans/the media and often seems like he's not particularly happy to be in F1. I mean this as no hate but I do believe if he wasn't driving for his dad's team he probably wouldn't still be driving, either by lack of performance or by choice.

- Adrian Newy has just moved to Aston Martin and is going to be highly influential as a part owner. He will expect only the BEST and (sorry Lance fans) that's not Lance.

- So under pressure from all sides Lance turns to Chloe for help, support, guidance. And *hand wavey bits* all his close people say, "dude, just hang it up, you had a good run, be free of this shit." So he does. - he is a literal billionaire he will be fine.

- Via shmoosing, close personal connections, Adrian vouching for it, and his own damn talent and ability Daniel takes the AS seat next to Fernando.

- Fernando has not got many years left in him, as he admits himself. 2027/2028 he retires. Leaving the AS seat open for...

- Max! Who has just reached the end of his RBR contract and is DONE. Ready to leave (maybe Helmut is dead or retired by this point I don't know and I don't care)

- He COULD flounce of into retirement/WEC with his # WDC'S (and irl i think he likely will)

BUT

- In this universe, the chance to drive alongside Daniel. One. Last. Time. (And the massive load of dough AS offer) is too tempting. He signs a short 2 year deal with the option to extend.

- Maxiel teammates, they ride again.
