fake fic title, if youre still doing them: "looks can be deceiving"
Virgil is 100% human, attending a co-ed human & myth college because it’ll get him the farthest from home. Some people worry about the glamoured myths “faking human,” but that’s none of his business. He figures most of his fellow students are human regardless, because there can’t be that many myths around, right?
Wrong.
Within the first three weeks, he finds himself running into three separate, incredibly-rare mythical creatures while hiding from his peers in the woods (admittedly not his brightest idea, but hey.) He’s nervous, of course, but they’re all in need of help and it’s not like being a little supernatural makes them any less people.
So, he crosses his fingers that they won’t hurt him and goes to help them out, from the sphinx caught in a bear trap to the firebird stuck in a bad molt to the unicorn being pursued by poachers. They vanish afterwards, and he figures that’s that.
Except he finds himself being suddenly interacted with in classes, and by some of the most popular, stand out students around, to boot. He wishes he could say he was wise enough to ignore them, but there’s something familiar, almost comforting about the three…
