The Sun Throne (Takht-e Khurshīd) in the Golestan Palace, Tehran, Iran. Constructed for the Persian king Fat'h Ali Shah Qajar in the early 19th century, it is known as the Sun Throne because of the carved sun, studded with precious stones, which is set into its top. Fath-Ali Shah later married Tavous Khanum Taj ol-Doleh, whose name translates as Lady Peacock. She became his favourite wife, and in her honour the throne became known as the Peacock Throne (Takht-e Tāvūs). #wearePersian #beautifulIran
