The clicking and whirring of a machine approached Atla. It was most logical to assume it must have been a servitor, but something more advanced approached; Fathomus, weaver Gilgamesh's attempt at a child, a construct of bronze in the shape of a weaver. While most weavers were quite fond of the false child, he was no doubt a failed attempt, his shell so frail it would crack at the slightest fall, any thicker would destroy the illusion of him being a weaver.

What you makin'? I've never seen that tool before.

He spoke in a deep voice. He was an attempt at a male weaver, but his voice was way too deep for somebody of his mental age.

OOC: Sorry for taking so long to reply, I didn't see this ask because I got distracted playing Rain World, and then I had to think deeply about what to type because Atla... isn't a tool maker? She doesn't make tools. She doesn't... she really doesn't, so I had to consider WHY she would be making tools, or what she would be trying to make, because she doesn't make tools. And also, idk if Atla would have any cause to know Fathomus, so uh, I decided she doesn't know Fathomus. I doubt Gilgamesh would've let Fathomus hang around Atla most of the time anyway, considering Atla is... "Bad with kids" would be putting it generously.

Atla turned to gaze at the machine.

... What sort of abomination was this?

Seriously, what was this?

Who was this thing, built to vaguely resemble a Weaver? And with a... ridiculous voice?

Atla didn't respond for a long time, just stared with narrowed eyes.

"I am building a Servitor Ignim," She eventually said, slowly and disdainfully.

Trying to, but I'm not going to say that, She added in her mind.

She wasn't a builder. Really, she wasn't.

Runecraft, an art and a science she designed near-singlehandedly, may have been the thing that completely revolutionized Weaver technology. But she had never intended for that to happen. She had actually innovated it specifically in an attempt to achieve offensive, defensive, and evasive capabilities, at least at first.

And then she discovered a few Basic Symbols that didn't quite live up to that idea, so she never touched them.

Instead, she spent all her time perfecting Rune Rage, and teleportation.

And then her sisters saw what she was doing and asked to join. She said yes and hoped they'd think it was hard, give up, and leave her alone.

... Oh, oh how wrong she was.

And she was glad to have been wrong. It had motivated her to get better at Runecraft. But when her more tech-savvy sisters started to build things with Runecraft, well, then the technology advanced at ludicrous speeds, and Atla simply could not keep up.

So, she was trying to catch up now by building a Servitor Ignim, something she had previously had to ask her sisters to build.

... She did not know what she was doing.

"Just what junkpit did you crawl out of?" Atla asked, insult clear in her voice. "Just what are you? And why are you?"

How do I feel about the others?

It was a question Atla had been asking herself a lot lately.

Every party, she would be invited. She'd show up. She'd find the nearest window or balcony and stare off into the distance.

Some days, Atla felt she was indifferent to the others.

Some days, Atla wasn't sure how she felt.

Those days became increasingly common.

When was the last time she felt certain where she stood with someone?

Evarnla.

But she's long gone.

Atla remembered... how Evarnla made her feel...

And she remembered the numbness that came after her death.

The numbness that only ended when Atla learned the truth. And when hatred entered her heart.

But now, what did that leave her with?

Atla stood at the balcony a little longer, and pondered.

atla. someone of another kingdom had a mantra “no cost too great”. is it yours as well?

It was close, truly.

Atla's mantra was "Whatever it takes."

Atla was determined.

She would not fail. She would not give up. She would not accept any outcome other than success. No matter what price she had to pay.

She'd throw any body in the furnace and use any soul to ignite the flame if she had to. She would pay any toll and make any trade. She would give her own life, give her very Soul, if she must, in order to see Grand Mother Silk dead.

She would do whatever it takes.

atla’s thoughts on lesbianism?

Atla rarely gave much thought to relationships. She preferred to keep to herself. She didn't really have much of a social life. She was asocial, and merely observed relationships from a distance, rather than participate in them herself.

She had observed many relationships in her time. Lesbians were just one type.

Women who loved women. At least, that was the most common definition.

It was relatively common amongst the Weavers.

There were, technically, male Weavers. They had men.

They were very rare, however. An accidental creation of Grand Mother Silk, who had wanted daughters, not sons or children of any other gender.

Some Weavers thought male Weavers were weaker. Atla called that bullshit.

Once Grand Mother Silk was out of the picture, a few Weavers who had thought themselves women instead transitioned to men.

But, back on topic: Male Weavers were rare amongst Weavers, and most Weavers preferred to be in relationships with other Weavers (even seeing non-Weavers as lesser and unworthy), and so lesbian relationships among Weavers were common.

Atla could distantly recall one of the other Weavers of the rebellion even being married to another Weaver woman. Cindril, maybe?

Overall, Atla was fine with lesbians existing. It didn't affect her.

Was Atla a lesbian?

She didn't know. She didn't know how to know.

There was really only one Weaver she had ever loved. And she was long dead. Long, long dead, and her pieces used to create what Atla had hoped to be their savior, but turned out to be a failure.

Atla wasn't even sure she loved her own sisters anymore.

All Atla was sure of was that she hated their mother and wouldn't rest until she was gone, and they were all free.

Did anything else matter?

... No. No, nothing else mattered. Atla was sure of this.

It's ya boy. @ihavenocluewhatiwanttobecalled. Back at it again with a new blog. A canon character this time.

The mod of the previous Eva blog took an indefinite Hiatus! And so I'm taking over!

I don't think I'll be able to replace that wonderful human (If you're reading this, I miss you), but I shall try.

Alongside Eva in this blog is Atla and a Weave OC named Keerinal. They, alongside Yivel (@weaveryivel) worked on Eva and created her. You can send asks to Atla and Keerinal, but right now, only their past verisons are available, so you'll get a flashback as your answer.

Atla, what do you remember about Apate?

Atla actually spoke to Apate somewhat recently. If "sometime in the last several months" could be counted as "recently."

Like all Weaver scientists, Apate was called in to look at... Eva

Hopefully to... salvage the failure...

To no avail.

Atla still remembered why Keerinal called Apate in. It was because Apate somewhat shared in Keerinal's interests in creating life, and helping Weavers reproduce.

Atla... hadn't known that. What she had known was that Apate hated Grand Mother Silk and was...

Unstable.

Hungry. Gluttonous, even. In a way that downright disgusted Atla.

But, Atla could admit that Apate had her uses.

And she shared Atla's vision, of their mother long gone. That mattered.

Aside from that, Atla couldn't remember much about Apate. Truthfully, she cared little about her sisters beyond their usefulness.

Had that always been the case? ... Did it matter?

All that mattered was their mother's demise.
