#weaving ends

Unpopular Fiber Arts Opinion:

When I crochet, I actually love weaving in my ends. Like with a sewing project, when I crochet I save all my ends for last, unless weaving (or in the case of sewing, cutting) them early can't be avoided.

For me it signifies the end of the project, the moment I can step back and say, "Yes. I am finished now. No more tweaking, just stop and rest and enjoy my new item."

I know many of you find weaving ends to be annoying or tedious. But try to find the good in every aspect of your craft. You've made a new thing out of nothing but yarn or thread, using only a hook or needles and your own two hands. Take pride! You've made something beautiful and useful. Weave that love in with every tail you have.

Day 16: Least favorite technique

What do these lovelies have in common? Weaving in so many ends. There was a time when this was unequivocally my least favorite technique. I know I'm not alone. Some crafters finish most of the project, then never get to the weaving in of ends.

I guess it's still my least favorite, but I don't really mind anymore. That first photo is my 2018 temperature blanket, in linen stitch. With that one, I learned to be patient and enjoy the work, even when the work was weaving in. One of the reasons I don't mind is that these are projects that, when complete, were so well received by the owners.

Time to practice what I preach! I finished the crocheting last night, now all that's left is to weave and trim all these ends! Here we go!!! 😁
