What I've Been Reading So Far

Okay, confession time. I haven't been diving deep into Webtoons lately. Why, you ask? Well, for one, the art tends to repeat itself (they’re gorgeous, but a bit of variety, please? 🌸). And the storylines, well, they often miss the mark for me. So yeah, I’ve been a bit picky. Sue me.
Picture this: I’m scrolling through titles, skimming a few chapters, and dodging potential duds like a ninja. 🥷 Anyway, let’s not dwell on the stuff I didn’t finish (because a.) I didn’t, and b.) it’s stressing me out just thinking about it). Onward to the goodies!
Recently, I’ve been checking out some new Webtoons from the fabulous Yaongyi, the mastermind behind True Beauty, and a fresh talent, Yejo. These artists are downright amazing, and I’ll drop their Instagram links later so you can fan over them too! 🎨✨
During the spring awarding ceremony, Gwon Eunho was crowned top student, which totally irked Jeong Yebom, a 19-year-old transferee who had to move and lost her dream and goal in the process. Despite Eunho’s endless kindness—snacks, notes, and constantly calling her name—she found him incredibly annoying and even asked if he liked her. His friendly persistence baffled her, especially when he returned her lost notebook and revealed he knew about her past academic glory and love for art. 🎨 Then, he dropped a bomb about this being his last spring, which left her both confused and furious.
Fast forward five years: Yebom, now 24, learns from a classmate that Eunho died shortly after graduation—a fact she missed because she didn’t attend. Reflecting on his kindness, she wished she could’ve thanked him. Cue magical cherry blossoms and a young boy who looked like Eunho, sending her back to their first meeting, determined to uncover the mysteries behind his death. 🌸
"Return Your Soul" follows Cheon Ryeong, the eldest daughter of the Cheon family, perpetually belittled by her aunt. Ryeong’s world flips when she meets Kang Yuseong, the eldest son of Mujang-gak, the top martial arts academy. Yuseong, a sickly man, made a pact with a ghost to possess his body. 👻 Now, possessed by said ghost, he asks Ryeong for help in recovering his memories, leveraging her spiritual prowess (hopefully).

Their teamwork eventually lands her a spot at the academy, but not without some challenges—like saving Yuseong from a cliff fall and dealing with some serious Mulan-level discrimination from her male peers. 🌟 Things take a sinister turn when Ryeong gets poisoned by an upper-classman, Gwak Dongju, who gets expelled after Yuseong’s investigation reveals the truth.
These stories are ongoing, and I’m practicing my patience because I cannot Fast Pass another episode—my bank account has packed its bags and left. 💸 Send help.
