Wade, which would immediately eclipse abortion access for millions of Americans. Some other notes from 2 days of hearings so far: - She refused to recuse herself from 2020 election cases, as Trump claims he "needs nine" justices to throw out ballots and to win (this is unethical) - She refused to answer whether it's illegal to intimidate voters at the polls. IT IS. - She refused to answer whether she agrees with her judicial hero Antonin Scalia on marriage equality or voting rights. Scalia ruled to strike down a key portion of the Voting Rights Act, which paved the way for Republican #votersuppression that we're seeing today in states like GA and TX, and opposed marriage equality. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was an undisputed American hero. While we continue to mourn her loss, we must also follow her fervent wish and live into her storied legacy: We, too, must dissent.

Just this morning, some alarming statements from two Supreme Court Justices sent a clear message that LGBTQ rights, particularly marriage equality, are still under attack.

The language from Thomas and Alito today proves yet again that a segment of the Court views LGBTQ rights as “ruinous” (a direct quote) and remains dead set against protecting and preserving the rights of LGBTQ people.

Amy Coney Barrett has openly claimed to hold similar views to Justice Antonin Scalia, who Thomas and Alito channel with this opinion. That fact, along with Barrett’s ties to anti-equality extremist groups who aim to criminalize LGBTQ relationships in the U.S. and abroad, shows that Barrett will only embolden these anti-equality extremist views on the Court.

Just as Justice Ginsburg said in her argument in United States v. Windsor (2013), we cannot accept a “skim-milk marriage” that is watered-down and could lead to unequal treatment of marriage for same-gender couples, like eliminated hospital visitation rights and medical decision-making power for LGBTQ couples at religiously affiliated medical centers.

My very first 5k run/walk on the anniversary of the heart attack that wasn’t. Exactly a year ago, I was admitted to the hospital for a potential heart attack. I’ve lost 80 pounds and thrown away my cane! The 5k is Run For Ruth and supports a host of really cool charities. I chose Girls Who Code since I am a girl coder. Getting girls into STEM careers is important to me. Thanks to Mike at LA Fitness who took my picture next to the treadmill.
