“Comments” 🌻

I have gone down a bit of the proverbial rabbit hole gathering research on comments. Specifically comments that are left on people’s ‘social’ pages. 

I find many that are comical, endearing, and heartfelt. Some have even given me the warm & fuzzies to the point where I’ve had to reach for a tissue or two to dab at my tears & feels.

But.

 there are many “comments” that have made me question (a dozen times or more) this thing called Humanity.

There are some, No, many that have left horrific mind-numbing insults and character assassinations on people’s posts that have at times left me shocked, sad & searching for…. ???

well, I’m not sure what. 

I have on occasion asked complete strangers (to me) why they would say those vicious words to anyone, especially someone they don’t know, I’ve only ever gotten one reply back & that was an incorrectly spelled (on purpose ?) Eff U. 🙃

Nuff said.

Why tho’ ? 

If I, who is not even the target of these vicious messages feel ugly & dirty when & after reading them, what on earth is going through the heart, mind & soul of the intended ?

I can only imagine.

I know there have been many days-months-years that looking in the mirror at my self-hate shame & loathing have been overwhelming & have pulled me to my knees many a time, so,

 me, myself & I could never wantingly inflict those same pains onto someone else & as a result, I asked myself that same mirror’d question up above.

My answer is Yes, I have looked at my reflection & hurled nasty comments at it.

My answer is No. I would never purposely practice hurting someone, anyone to make me feel superior & less small. 

Be kind. Be kinder.

Words matter.

Have a Heart.

This has been a hard lesson for me to learn, and one I still struggle with from time to time. We can't always control what's going on. I think our current global situation confirms that. Trying to control what we can't can be at best manipulative, at worst anxiety inducing. Control has been the basis of my own anxiety through my adulthood. We can only control ourselves. How we respond. How we react and process what we are given. We can't control others. I think there have indeed, and will continue to be, silver linings in all this. I had a job I loved and was well compensated for... And was laid off. I had a part time job I love with folks there that'll be life long tribe I suspect, and we're furloughed. I had been making excuses about my diet and health, sabotaging my progress towards where I want to be. I could go on and on about "before". But I'll tell you what, you don't need a vacation for self care. What this has done is given me some considerable perspective on my worth, my lack of investment in myself, and how important self care really is. I've been reminded through this how important it really is to put the gasmask, as it were, on first. I'll get reemployed and it'll be a better opportunity and fit for me. My part time job will re-open and I'll be able to see those I've missed. I've lostbsome weighr, have been hearing far better and I've been focusing on my YouTube channel, crafts, and improving some skills I've long put off because I just didn't have time.
