I draw suggestions in 18 hours! I’ve made a post every week for a few weeks now, and it’s always consistent! 5-6pm AEST (idk what time zones everyone else is in so no point me converting it) I will draw things from my inbox!
(If I get anything...)
Posting in advance so not everyone is asleep around then!
Quick Summary/Sneak Peek: “Well I guess...um the least I can do is invite you to dinner?...” Jack mumbled, trying to muffle his voice by turning away, as he rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
Merida laughed, but gave a genuine smile, “I guess” she shrugged.

Everything was going smoothly compared to other days. He was on track and most importantly on time! Might he even say he was a couple of minutes ahead. If this kept on going for the whole day, maybe he would actually have time to cook himself some real food, and not have to go through a drive through, or eat frozen food. As anyone having a good day, Jack didn’t expect anything to go wrong. He went about his day, enjoying the fact he was on time.
Checking his phone before leaving the house, his first task was to take his sister to school.
‘Of course...’ he thought to himself as he shook his head. How could he have forgotten something he has to do everyday? Well almost everyday, except the weekend. But that was how busy his days were, that even something he did every could be forgotten. “Ready for school, Emma?” he called over his shoulder, as he took the keys in one hand, along with his phone, and his coffee mug in the other.
“One second!” responded the girl and she came stumbling out her room, still struggling to put on a shoe. “Done” she smiled up at her brother, after having hopped her way across the living room. The shoes had finally slipped into place.
Jack nodded and gestured for her to get her peanut butter and jelly sandwich, which was nicely placed on a white plate, next to a smaller version on his coffee mug, but instead of coffee that one had milk. “Alright come on, if not I will be late for the PTA meeting...though I wouldn’t be missing anything in it. I could use that time more wisely for other things like work. I haven’t even started on the new project the boss wants. Can you believe he wants me to create a new type of playground? How is that even possible?” Jack rambled on to himself, knowing his sister wasn’t interested in what he was saying.
They both got to the car and in less than ten minutes they were at the entrance of the school. Emma unbuckled herself and grabbed her backpack as usual, but instead of giving a quick ‘goodbye’ and ‘have a nice day’ she reached over and hugged her brother. “Work hard and see you after school.”
Jack stalled for a few minutes as he watched his sister disappear into the group of children. he smiled to himself and right after sped off to the next thing on his list.
The meeting was shorter than expected and so Jack had time to spare. He decided to pass by the park to get an idea for his new project. it took Jack by surprise to see the park so lonely and so quiet, but then he remembered it was in the morning and every child was either still asleep or at school. He chuckled to himself, knowing he would be one of the kids who were still asleep.
He walked over to a nearby bench, which was under the shade, and took a seat to admire the view he had. He was always so busy that he never had time to just sit down and rest, and enjoy the outside world. Knowing he didn’t have much time he pulled out his phone to check the time, and rested it next to him right after. He had ten minutes, more like five more minutes to take a break. After his time was up he himself got up and began to walk away, but he stopped himself. He was forgetting his phone. He walked back and picked his phone up, smiling down at it as if it were a child who was trying to hide the mess they made.
Halfways through his day, Jack found himself in a Beauty Salon. Emma had been telling him for weeks now that his hair was growing too long, and that he wasn’t tending to it, so she took the privilege to make a haircut appointment for him, and even write it into his phone calendar. She knew that if she didn’t he wouldn’t go and just act as if he had forgotten to go.
Jack sighed as he opened the door, setting of the small bell, that indicated to everyone inside that someone had just walked in. Just as jack expected every person in the small shop turned to look at him, except the only redhead in the room. Maybe she wasn’t the only redhead in the room, but she was the only one who stood out with her red mane. Her vision kept straight ahead, away from everyone else. It seemed that just like him she didn’t want to be there. He sat down and waited for his turn. Surprisingly the girl with the red bush of hair was out before him. Either she had been stubborn enough not to get the haircut, or they had just cut her tips.
After the haircut, Jack headed back to the school to pick up his sister. He patiently waited outside the entrance of the school, waiting to spot Emma running past the crowd. Jack smiled as he spotted her pushing past the annoying kids, who were being louder than needed.
“How was your day?” Jack asked.
“It was fun! Today we learned about snowflakes, and how there is no two snowflakes that look alike” Emma excitedly responded, throwing the belt over her chest and letting it safely click next to her.
“Sounds interesting” Jack smiled over at his sister. Right after he started the car and headed home. He was going to quickly make his sister some food and then go buy the groceries. He knew that was the next thing on his list. The only thing he didn’t know was what exactly he would be getting.
Both entered the apartment. Jack went straight to the kitchen, looking through cupboard after cupboard looking for something to cook. Emma slide her backpack across the floor to the kitchen table and sat on a chair.
“What will we be eating today?” she asked, watching him as he looked through every possible open space of the cupboards.
“How does mac and cheese sound?” he asked, his voice muffled because it was all the way inside a cupboard.
“Sounds good.”
Jack quickly cooked the food for his sister and excused himself. “I need to go buy food for the rest of the week and for next week. I will be back in an hour or so. Start on your homework while I am out so that when I come back I can help you on what don’t understand, okay?”
“Yup!” she answered, already taking a spoonful of her mac and cheese.
Jack gave her a quick salute and walked out the door, taking everything he needed with him, or so he thought. The drive to the grocery store wasn’t to far away from the apartment, almost just as close, or far, as the school, just that it was to the opposite side. Arriving to the store the first thing Jack did was reach for his phone, to check the list for the groceries, but his hand came out empty. He quickly reached for every other possible pocket he had on him, even if he knew it wouldn’t be there because he never used those. Jack felt as his stomach sank after not finding it. Maybe he had left it home or in the car. Yeah! That must be it, he forgot it at home. he didn’t remember grabbing it on his way out. He had grabbed his keys and wallet, but not his phone. He sighed in relief, while walking back to his car.
As quickly as he left he returned home. His sister looked up at him confused.
“Back so soon?” she asked, but noticed he didn’t have any bags, so she frowned.
“I forgot my phone” he said, frantically looking all over the table and kitchen for his phone.
“Well I haven’t seen it. It actually surprised me that you weren’t on it when you picked me up” she offered.
Jack felt as his stomach sunk again. “No…”he mumbled. It wasn’t possible. He had not forgotten his phone at the beauty salon. Jack himself sunk into a chair. What was he going to do?
“Did you lose it somewhere?” Emma asked curiously. Her brother forgetting his phone somewhere, or even losing it? Now that was a shock.
“Yeah, I think I forgot it at the beauty salon I went to. Now that I remember I took it out to check the time and I must have left it on the chair...or counter when i went up to pay” he explained.
“Why don’t you call it? Maybe someone answers and can return it to you?” she suggested.
“You really think someone will return my phone?” Jack chuckled at his sister’s innocence.
“Why not?” she shrugged. She rose from the table and went to grab the house phone. She handed the phone over to her brother, already having dialed his cell phone number. All he had to do was press the call button.
Jack sighed, but still took the phone and pressed call. He brought the phone up to his ear, and was surprised to hear that it was actually ringing. He didn’t expect anyone to answer though, but they surprised him even further when a female voice answered.
“Hello?” The girl seemed to have a strong accent from somewhere not in the U.S.
“Yes this is Jack...the owner of the phone you just answered” he answered, feeling a bit rude.
“Oh this is great! You left your phone at the beauty salon. We have been trying to find a way to contact you since you left, but you don’t have your house phone listed in your contacts, and no one we called seemed to answer. They were all girls by the way..” the scottish woman spoke, with a hint of a smile at the last comment.
“Ah...” jack said feeling weird about the comment. They must have called all the girls who he had gathered numbers from in the past. “Anyways, um is there a chance we could meet up so I can get my phone back?”
“Sure, the salon is still open if you want to come pick it up here?” she replied.
“Sounds good, I will be there in a few minutes” he said, already gathering up his things, again.
They both hung up after that and Jack walked out of the apartment, for the second time in less than half an hour.
When he arrived at the salon it was empty. The lights were on, but there was no one inside. He was even afraid of opening the door, afraid the bell would make too much noise, but he still opened it. The bell went off, filling the quiet room with some noise. Shortly after footsteps were heard from the back of the room, where Jack presumed were the restrooms, or the room where they kept the hair dyes. Out came the same redhead he had seen that same afternoon. Jack couldn’t help but smile to himself.
“Are you the guy who called...Jack was it?” the redhead asked.
Jack kept smiling like an idiot as he nodded.
“Well hello, my name is Merida” Merida bowed her head. She then turned behind her to grab something from the counter. “Here is your phone, you left it on the waiting bench. When I came back from going to get some food for my mum and dad I saw it.”
“Thank you! It means alot that you returned it to me” Jack thanked as he took the phone. If she hadn’t he would be at a great loss.
“Yeah..no problem...” Merida replied, suddenly feeling awkward. Her parents had sent her out to return the phone because the man on the phone ‘sounded handsome.’ Wow, her parents could have been throwing her at a serial killer of sorts and they wouldn’t care because he sounded handsome.
Jack felt the awkwardness begin to settle in too. All he did was stare at the girl before him. He had thought it was going to be a lady who, yes he was going to admit it, wasn’t that attractive, but it wasn’t. The girl before him had similar blue eyes, but hers were more vibrant compared to her red hair. “So…?”
Merida chuckled, “So?” repeated.
“Well I guess...um the least I can do is invite you to dinner?...” Jack mumbled, trying to muffled his voice by turning away, as he rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
Merida laughed, but gave a genuine smile, “I guess” she shrugged.
They both stood there in silent for a few moments before chuckling.
“Um, but I will have to bring my sister along, because I kind of left her home alone to come get my phone” he said, hoping it wouldn’t bother her, or make her think he was being weird.
Merida playfully raised a brow, “You better not be serial killer planning to kill me. I warn you in advance that I am very good at self defense and kicking peoples butts!”
Jack laughed, “No no, I am not. I promise.”
“Well then” Merida walked over to the counter and pulled out a purse, “Guess we should leave.”
He nodded and they left.
Emma opened the door for his brother, already having spotted the familiar LED lights of his car from the living room. She swung it open with a small smile, only for it to grow wider as she spotted a girl.
“Hello” Merida greeted, with a small gave.
“Emma put some shoes on and a sweater, we are going out for dinner.”
“But I just ate...” she replied, still keeping her eyes on the redhead.
“I’ll buy something small and something to bring back home so you can eat dinner later if you are hungry again” Jack replied.
“Okay!” she exclaimed, running over for her shoes and sweater. She was ready within a minute.
“So you name is Emma? What a lovely name that is” Merida complimented the little girl as they both waited for Jack to come back from ordering their food.
“Thank you, but your name is nice too Merida. So how did you meet my brother? Are you guys dating?” Emma asked.
“Emma!” Jack yelled in a hush tone as he heard the questions his sister was asking Merida..
Merida laughed, “Oh no we just met actually. I was the one who found his phone and so he offered me dinner as a thank you, I think.”
“Oh...” the small girl sadly replied. She was hoping her brother had finally found a girlfriend, and one as pretty and nice as Merida. So far they had hit it off well and Emma really liked Merida.
“Why do you sound sad?” Merida asked Emma, a bit confused.
“Well my brother hasn’t dated in a long time. And you seem like a cool person so I just thought...” Emma responded and then her face lit up as she had an idea. “Could you be my brother’s girlfriend please?”
Jack almost spit out his drink and Merida just laughed at scene.
“Emma, you don’t just ask those things after meeting someone. You have to get to know them, and it is up to me to ask her to date me, not yours” he galred at his sister.
Emma pouted at his brother and crossed her arms.
Merida copied Emma in crossing her arms as she turned to Jack. “Oh so you don’t like me is that it?” she joked, but kept a serious face.
“N-no yes..no I mean! What I mean is that it’s not that. I just think it should be me to ask you out not my sister, because...” Jack gave up on trying to explain.
Merida slapped his arm playfully, “I was just kidding, I know what you meant. Don’t need to get all defensive.”
Emma smiled, she already liked where this was going. Maybe Merida could end up being her brother’s girlfriend.
