Transitions Week 7

For this weeks task we were sent on a 10 minute walk to find something that inspires us. we then had to use a random word generator to come up with our context. I was given the word 'weather' . we then had to create something using materials that are out of our comfort zones, mine being watercolour painting. I then decided to further my experiments by merging the word and the painting together to create a new piece of art.

Transitions Week 5/6

For this weeks task I was separated into a group of 4 other peers and we had to find a piece of advertising and start to deconstruct it and anyalyse each factor in terms of what makes it good as well as bad. Once we had all deconstructed the design we then spent an hour reconstructing it to make it better and more effective.

Personally so far, this Transitions weekly task has been the most beneficial and exciting for me as I was able to work within a team and and analyse an advert.

For this transitions task I was asked to create a discussion about a book I found using the AUB library online website. to complete this task I used the keyword 'typography ' in the main search bar to find a book, 955 results came up. This book was the one that interested me the most. To complete the task given I then created a discussion about the book in hope that one of my peers could reply and we would be able to bounce off of each others findings to help broaden our knowledge.

once I had posted my discussion I then replied to an existing discussion stating my options of the finding and how it could be useful to me and my project.

Transition - Week 8

For my final task for Transitions, I needed to create a 100 word critical reflection one one of the themes I have learnt in this unit. I found this helpful because it started my 500 word critical reflection that I needed to submit at the end of this unit.

Transitions - week 7

For this task I was asked to go on a 10 minute walk then find the first object I notice. using a random prompt I then was asked to create 2 outcomes using a medium I was comfortable with and a medium I found challenging.

When I finished my walk, I was drawn to a tree which was illuminated by the setting sun. I decided to use photography to create one of my experiments since I find it quite challenging. I liked my photograph experiment because the tree looks like it is illuminated by the setting sun. I also like how the dark silhouette of the tree contrasts with the orange sunset.

For my second experiment, I decided to use pen to create an abstract illustration of the tree. I liked this because it allowed me to quickly form the tree which helped to understand the form of the tree. It also showed me how the change of medium creates two different moods.

Transitions Week 6 - Task

This weeks task focused on semiotics. This looks at choosing signs and looking at possible denotations and connotations.

Transitons Week 4 Task

For this task, I was asked to find a book using the Library Search Tools. This book had to be related to either my course or my project. I was unable to complete this task immediately and had to complete it later in the week, as I was suffering from a migraine. When completing this task I found it useful because it allowed me to explore different ways of finding books that would be useful fro my research later on.

For the second part of my task I was asked to comment on one of my peers posts that I found interesting and links back to my book. I found this task allowed me to broaden my research sources as I found a book that did not come up in my search.
