How it felt watching 9-1-1 for the first time through a GA view to see if the fandom was delusional only for buddie to be actually fucking insane
like I didn’t really think anything of it when Eddie dove off the bridge, I just thought it was funny and looked stupid and then I sort of forgot about it.
but it’s been mentioned MULTIPLE times this season like they aren’t just mentioning it for no reason there will be a reason and I am so ready 😏😏😏😏😏😏😏
Okay I saw someone talking about the "I am the other guy" scene and I wanted to throw my interpretation up. "You look like hell" - this is Buck trying to lighten the mood and just textually, him commenting on the fact that Eddie looks beat up.
"You should see the other guy" - classic response, everyone knows what this means but for the purposes of my interpretation I will point out that it implies "the other guy" in this scenario looks worse/more beat up.
"I am the other guy" - Here I think this is just Buck saying that he is the one who looks worse, he is the guy who is more beat up. This makes sense in the context of the conversation to me at least.
"Yeah, I know" -the words themselves here don't say a ton, but God. The delivery. This is just my interpretation and we may be treading into delulu land at this juncture so hear me out: even though Buck meant "I am the other guy" to mean that he is the one who looks worse, Eddie's response reads to me like he heard what Buck was saying, but he also heard "I am the Other Guy. I am your guy. I am the one." and his response to that is "yeah, I know. I know you're the one" Part of the reason I think this is because I firmly believe that Eddie knows he's gay, and I think he knows he's in love with Buck. So his soft, "Yeah, I know" is almost a love confession, but not one that Buck can understand. Like when Buck says he's the other guy, that's where Eddie's perception of what's being said splits from Buck's and that's why Eddie's delivery sounds more like an admission than an agreement.
A few months into dating Buck, Eddie has a nightmare. They happen less frequently than before, mostly due to the sheer amount of therapy sessions he’s attends but they are somewhat common occurrence for him.
And so when he wakes up, blinded by panic and sheer with sweat, a shout dying on his lips, it’s only pure muscle memory that he fumbles with his phone to dial Buck’s number. It rings and rings and Eddie’s so out of it he doesn’t register the buzzing on the nightstand on the other side of the bed.
What he does register is Buck. Buck’s soft voice, whispering comfort as Buck’s arms wrap around him, holding him close and Buck’s scent as Eddie presses his face into Buck’s shoulder. Buck’s warmth and steady beating heart lulling him back to a peacful sleep.
(In the morning, when the memory of the nightmare has faded and all Eddie feels is safe and warm and loved, Buck will tease him about the fact that Eddie’s instinctual reaction was to call Buck’s phone and not reaching over to wake him from where he slept right next to Eddie)

Would be hilarious though if Eddie's lease did actually forbid subletting. Guys, this is how we can still get that fake relationship trope 😂! The landlord shows up and Buck has to be like
"Uh. No no no, I'm definitely not subletting, Eddie totally still lives here, he's just ...out of town!! 😳!" and then he finally stops being a baby and panic calls Eddie in front of the landlord. To be like "HI BABE!!! WHEN ARE YOU COMING HOME, THE LANDLORD WANTS TO RENOVATE THAT SQUISHY CORNER!!"
Yes, the normal way to start talking again.
