I feel like we haven't really seen any Darcy/Jas interactions, right? How do they get along?
This ask inspired me to draw Darcy and Jas together, I'd never drawn them interacting before!!!
Gonna brain dump some SDV headcanon's that I get way too into so you can look at it below the cut ✌️✨
In my very loose, ever-changing timeline of Darcy's story and relationships with everyone in town, I think Darcy and Jas would have a close relationship once Shane starts to trust and hang out with the Farmer himself.
Darcy in my mind has a very distant and rocky relationship with their family, low effort kind of family. They moved away from ZuZu City to fix up their grandfather's old farm to sell, but decided to plant roots permanently in The Valley and try their hand at farming.
Darcy didn't have any strong relationships with their siblings so I feel like when Jas and Darcy finally form a bond it's a relationship that becomes really important for the both of them. I think it's more of a big brother/little sister or niece/cool uncle or auntie relationship than a parental one. I really love the dynamic of Marnie's house where it's 3 people in this chosen family and the Farmer just adds onto that. They're ALL a family, unconventional and all being Jas's support system.
Building off the game, Jas at 0 hearts won't say anything to you until after you get to know her a little more, and I read that as her being very stand-offish and even scared of speaking to people she doesn't know. With the people she knows, she's a creative and sensitive kid with big big feelings (she's also a velcro kid imo).
She's at that age where she's becoming more independent and I think she's kind of absorbed a bit of Shane-isms while living with him and mimicking his behaviors, sometimes cussing or saying something extremely pointed and blunt. Of course, she's also traumatized and her home life with Shane and Marnie is unpredictable and chaotic because of his substance abuse so I think she's really stand-offish with most people because she doesn't expect most people in her life to stay, but gets really clingy once she opens up.
Darcy I feel tries to interact with everyone in town, always saying hello and being friendly, but if they see someone clearly not wanting to continue the interaction, they'll move on and let them be. A lot of their initial interactions with Jas probably involved a lot of staring out from behind cover (a leg, around a corner...) or a side eye. Eventually it would become Jas staring at them but clearly warming up to them, but still too shy to approach. But once Jas starts seeing them more often, when the barrier comes down, I think Jas would get VERY attached to Darcy and Darcy becomes super protective of her.
ANYWAY thanks for sending me this ask, I got way way way into thinking about this so thanks for indulging me ❤️
