Concert Series :: Weilersteins visit CIM for master classes and Cavani celebration, March 2 & 4

The Cleveland Institute of Music welcomes Vivian Hornik Weilerstein and Donald Weilerstein back to Cleveland for a special visit. The Weilersteins are former CIM faculty members and, this March, they’ll be visiting CIM to present master classes and join the Cavani String Quartet (CIM's quartet-in-residence) in celebrating 30 years of music making.

These educational events are free and open to the public.

On Wednesday, March 4, the Weilersteins take the Kulas Hall stage with the Cavani String Quartet for a faculty recital, performing works by Shostakovich and Mendelssohn.

CIM Master Classes :: Vivian Hornik Weilerstein & Donald Weilerstein, March 22

Donald Weilerstein, violin, and Vivian Hornick Weilerstein, piano, return to the Cleveland Institute of Music on Friday, March 22, to coach violin and piano students.

The couple are two of the three members of the Weilerstein Trio--the third member being their daughter, CIM alumna and artist-in-residence Alisa Weilerstein (cello)--have a history with Cleveland and the Cleveland Institute of Music.

Violinist Donald--a founding member of the original Cleveland Quartet--and his wife, pianist Vivian lived in Cleveland Heights in the late 80s/early 90s raising their musically inclined children (Joshua and Alisa Weilerstein) while teaching at CIM.

Mr. and Mrs. Weilerstein have since moved away. Donald now teaches at Juillard while Vivian teaches at the New England Conservatory.
