i’ve been feeling very sonnypete lately?? got anything off the top of ur head for headcanons?

Ooh, haven’t got something like this in a while! Hmm…well, let’s see…

Unlike many people who like to think that Sonny and Pete’s first kiss was either during the blackout or when Sonny commissioned Pete like in that early draft, I personally think that they didn’t get together until a bit later. Was their pining? Of course there was, but only on Pete’s end. Pete figured out pretty early on that he was gay, maybe in late middle or early high school years, cause girls just didn’t do it for him. Heck, one of the reasons he was so glad his dad upped and left him was that he never had to fear what would happen if he came out to him. When Sonny and Pete were kids, Pete saw Sonny mostly as a little brother figure, that cute kid who he always had to get out of trouble. But when he saw the lengths Sonny was willing to go to protect the bodega during the blackout, his view of Sonny COMPLETELY changed. Unfortunately, Pete’s pining caused him a lot of grief cause a) Sonny likes Nina so he assumed that he only liked girls, and b) Usnavi would straight up GUT him if he found out. Usnavi is perfectly fine with LGBT+ people (for crying out loud Carla’s VERY open about it and Vanessa confided in him that at one point she had feelings for Nina, and Usnavi accepted it and moved on), the problem is that EVERYONE knows what a monster Mama Bear Usnavi can be when it comes to Baby Bear Sonny. So for a good few years, Pete just silently pined after him and thought about what could be. As for Sonny, I like to think he didn’t really figure it out until he started college, where he was more exposed to independence without Usnavi holding him back (based on this little fic gem here). It didn’t take him long to realize just HOW MUCH he cared for Pete (one of those, ‘shit, I’m totally bi’ moments) and when Thanksgiving break rolled around, Sonny and Pete met in private, feelings were shared, and they had their first date and first kiss over Christmas break. ((Usnavi eventually accepted Sonny’s choice in men, cause hey, he can’t be mad at someone who makes Sonny genuinely happy))

what is a big goal you are working towards (or have already achieved)? Well, I got accepted into my #1 college pick (FUCK YES), so now I need to complete all the steps before I can attend it next fall, and then I need to figure out the rest of my life once I’m there...

what’s a topic you’re always up to talk about? Daemon AUs.  If you got some, please tell me because I am always up for hearing them.  I don’t care what fandom they’re for, heck even if it’s for LazyTown, just  t e l l  m e .

what’s a pet peeve of yours? Hm, what’s one that's memey and not too aggressive...well, any mention of Harambe makes me die a little inside nowadays, no matter who brings him up.  I mean, guys, the gorilla’s dead.  He’s a corpse.  You’re beating a dead gorilla.

good advice to give? Just be yourself and like what you wanna like, no matter how others tease you or think you in poor taste.  You wanna know what song I like, without any trace of irony?  “We Built This City.”  They may be called guilty pleasures, but I say you shouldn’t feel the least bit guilty for liking them!

recommend three songs: “Come On, Feel the Illinoise!” by Sufjan Stevens is breathtakingly complex and great to listen to on a long car trip; “Well I Wonder” by The Smiths is catchy and sad and I could get lost in those jangly guitar sounds forever; and “You Reposted in the Wrong September” by some guy on YouTube is the best “You Reposted In” remix ever, Maury I’m like 5000% sure.
