As for writing tips, hmmm…
1) Write what you’d want to read. If you’re invested with your ideas, that will absolutely shine through to your readers.
2) With description/prose, challenge yourself to consider senses beyond sight and hearing. What do the characters smell? Sensations they feel? Is there a salty taste to the air? Getting creative with the senses can often be a godsend in coming up with scene descriptions, and can go a long way with pulling you into the story! :D
3) Try to strike a balance between longer sentences and shorter ones whenever you can. Sentence diversity is an important part of helping a story flow in a natural way.
4) Don’t be shy to take inspiration from real life when it comes to dialogue! Sometimes when I sit in coffee shops or am in other public areas, I’ll write down fragments of stuff I hear people say, or phrases I don’t hear too often as inspiration when I’m writing my characters’ dialogue. Stuff like this can be a nice help in better understanding the diverse ways different people phrase their speech.
5) Read a lot! I’ve absolutely picked up a lot of turns of phrase and formatting/structuring inspiration from various authors I admire over the years. (Also All of my knowledge on what kissing is like and how one might describe it, because honesty time: I have Never Kissed A Single Human in my Life, whomp XD)
