I know that for some people is normal to not remember things like you’re childhood or have memory problems. But I don’t know, when it’s related to trauma or mental health issues memory feels so hard. It’s like instead of getting the image I go out of focus (kinda like derealization ? ). Its hard to explain. And it’s tiring. I’m always pushed out of the place I’m trying to reach. Sometimes I just got feelings (incomplete feelings). I’m also started to think that I might be numb for some emotions, because it’s like it gets to my brain (I mean, something tells me that I’m feeling x emotion) but I actually don’t feel it. (Yeah, it’s weird, I know).
What do you think? And most important, how are you? Long time no see jsjsjs :)
Hey weirdkiddo,
It sounds like some kind of amnesic/repressive barrier trying to keep you from being distressed by those memories. I think it's normal to not have a full picture of traumatic memories, as well as limited or missing emotions surrounding it. I do know what you mean about like, registering that you almost feel sad but you can't, and as someone who has issues with experiencing a full range of emotions in a normal and healthy way due to trauma, it sounds like that could be the case here as well.
I am not bad, thx for asking! Just slightly stressed with schoolwork and future plans but I'm in relatively good spirits. Hope you're doing well too.
